After taking anti-depressents for 6-7 years I had absolutely had it with them and their side effects. I really didn't even feel like myself or that my emotions were really my natural ones. I even tried just going off of them, but after several months I went into such a panic state that I ended up in the hospital and had to be put back on the pills. Then one day -through a truly interesting way which I won't go into- I came across this site and after reading it extensively decided to go on SJW. What a difference! I've been on SJW (900mg) for 4-5 months now and feel pretty darn good. I have not had a panic attack and do not cry at the drop of a hat! However, I do feel a little bit tired lately, but that could be because school has started for the kids and I'm pretty involved and do a lot in the different organizations. My cousin recommended taking Sam-e in addition to SJW (which I take at night) and, after reading some of the posts in this forum, I believe I'll start tomorrow morning with 100 mg. Any thoughts from anyone? I'm off now to the vitamin store to see if they have it. Good Luck to all!

You take a total of 900mg at once before bedtime? I thought SJW was to be taken 300mg three times a day. Maybe you are feeling the effects of a high dose still by morning time. 300mg use to make me a little tired.

I do take 900mg at bedtime because it's easier, but I really don't think that's what is causing my tiredness. I've been dealing with "fatigue" for years and, after going off my anti-depressants, believe that most of it was due to them. The only scrip I take now is for my thyroid, which is actually supposed to help me with the fatigue! I actually was told by one doctor that I may have CFS, but I think that was just because they didn't know what was causing me to be so tired all the time.
Anyway, I started on the Sam-E this week and have noticed a difference, although I will wait several weeks to make sure it's the Sam-E that's giving me more energy. I started at 100mg for the first four days and today took 200mg. I actually haven't felt like I needed an afternoon nap all week! I read other people take in excess of 1000mg a day, but that, to me, sounds like a lot. I don't want to get that jittery, overcaffeinated feel - just something to give me that extra boost to feel like doing more during the day.
I'll keep you posted!
