"be patient" , Sun 15 May 19:52

I just want to report that I've now been taking SJW for 3 and a half weeks, and I have only just started to notice an improvement. I took the recommended dosage, with food at all times, never missing a day, and throughout this whole time I never thought I would get better. It didn't happen overnight, and I still have a fair way to go, but my message to all is be patient, take it regularly and don't stop taking them because you don't feel any improvement.

Depression builds up inside over many years, so I don't believe it can be cured instantly... give yourselves time and make a start by having faith in yourself and trying this wonderful herb.

Hi there unsure. I'm just curious, I have just started my SJW, a couple of weeks ago and have noticed what I think to be a slight improvement so far, but this morning had some anxiety on waking like I used to. Do you get that? and if you "did" get that, has that gone as well?

The anxiety on wake-up is probably the worst bit for me - the whole, oh-god, another day to get through and then the whole heart starts pounding, thoughts start racing scenario

Regards
Miss Downunder

Hi, I'm Jack, 24 from southern England. Got well depressed at the beginnig of this year over a new buisiness venture which involved my father and my brother. I felt sick 100% of the time, unless I drank about 20 pints of cider per day, which I did for about four months, I felt crap. Unless I was drunk, I felt awful, anxiety, panic, headaches, you name it I felt it. I felt robbed of my life, it didn't seem fair for someone so young to feel like this. I told my mother and she sent me to the doctor who prescribed me an antidrepressant called citalopram, and referred me to a councellor. The citalopram made me feel less anxious, but not less depressed, and after four moths of taking it, I was getting angry with people and agitated at everything, so I abruptly stopped taking it. I felt awsome for about a week, then my body stopped. I felt absolutely terrible. I was dizzy, hot then cold, mass headaches, sweating, needed to use the toilet non-stop, amongst other horrible things. This happend for about three weeks, and I drank myself stupid during this time. I was refeered to the mental health department of the local hospital, and the chap I saw absolutely discarded my account of what had happened, but I relented and told him to axe his anti-depressants and I think he ended up believing me. After that I felt OK sometimes and the same as I had done before for the rest of the time. I have been seeing the councellor twice weekely, but just recently I felt totally rubbish again. I told mum about St.Johns wort and she got me some in liquid form. I totalled the bottle in a week, and then I got myself some more. I feel much less depressed, but I still wake up with my heart pounding, anxitious and panicy. The SJW is definitely having an effect, but I am going to see the doc tommorrow about the panic attacks. In answer ot your query, I do get anxiety on waking, but it goes within about half an hour. This is just a phase, make believe it is nothing.
P.S. can anybody tell me the proper dose for the liquid form - Thanks..........

Hi there,

I still do have anxiety in the morning upon waking – it's horrible isn't it! As much as depression and anxiety are related, I believe they are two separate conditions, with varying symptoms. I found depression harder to deal with, because the mood just would not lift. I didn't want to do anything anymore, and I feel the SJW helped me a lot here.

I still suffer anxiety, but I don't feel this is a side effect of the SJW... for me the anxiety was always there, but I am certain SJW hasn't made it worse or bettter. This I am trying to treat by just accepting that it's an uncomfortable sensation, and letting it just run its course. I find that if I get stressed about it upon waking, I feel worse.

Hai,
I read this and thought, gee that is me! Ever since my depression episodes started I felt terrible in the morning. On taking SJW; I am only on it a week or so but can already feel the difference. It now lasts for only a couple of minutes and I have the feeling it is still improving.

Wow, I hate to say it but it's nice to see other people feel the same as I do from time to time. I have so many positive things going on in my life that I feel *guilty* for waking up dreading yet another day, but it does happen. The good thing is that I know this too may pass, but sometimes it really brings you to such a low. I'm really hoping that SJW will be the answer to help bring me out of the pits from time to time. I wish all of *us* luck with it!

Horrible isn't the word unsure. It really is a trial. I'm even apprehensive about going to bed in a minute cause I don't know whether I'll be in a fit state on wake-up - fun isn't it. I have found though if I lie there and let the worry and depression decent, and if I absorb myself in it it makes it much worse, in fact it ruins my day - so I'm going to just get up immediately and not face the nonsence. I did this last week and it was better, but you should'nt have to sacrifice a sleep-in should you? We'll see. I have taken 13 of my pills, I just counted, so I guess that qualifies as being just under two full weeks. I'm interested to see how I'll be feeling after I've finished the pack. I got mine from Boots (UK).

Today was a hideous day for me but then it could also have been wildly aggrevated by hormones, so we'll see what tomorrow brings

Wish you all well, and keep in touch with your progress

miss downunder, I'm assuming you're from australia right?

I've not heard of that brand, but I've been using Blackmores, which seems to be pretty good. Most of the other brands I've found here in Aus. have been much cheaper, so I suppose I went for the dearer brand!

Yes the mornings are the worst times!

I am from New Zealand. I've been living in London for a while now, but still like to make references to home :) I didn't have a very good morning again this morning, will try again tomorrow, must get up as soon as possible before I start worrying!

All the best
xxx

Miss Down Under - I don't know what dosage you are taking, but I use Holland and Barrett SJW, 300mg x 3 per day, which is the recommended daily dosage for SJW. This works a treat for me - maybe you might think about using this!!!

Hope this helps.

I'm fairly sure my dosage is okay. Its only one pill a day but I think its a potent one. Its from Boots, and is the Kira brand I think. I read posts on here a good while ago and there was a discussion on it, and I think it was established that it was a more potent form - hence only once tablet a day.

I am feeling a bit better now - although am very tired due to working extra hours at work and feel a bit edgey today, but overall much better. I'm not going to get too excited just yet but lets just say so far so good!

Cheers all ... wishing you well

hope you are all doing well, I am feeling better and better and I didn't think anything could help me – more than four weeks in now, and even the mornings are getting easier!

Take care, I hope you are all feeling better day by day!

I was told by a Doctor that S J W is no good unless you take a high dose of vit B with it. I tired it and boy does it make a difference.

Good luck to one and all.
