"Sound familiar?" , Sun 13 Mar 17:01

Hello Everyone,

I'm new and have a few questions that I hope you may have the answers to. I have suffered from depression for over 5 years now. My family and friends didn't really take it seriously, and it was only when I started researching my symptoms on the internet that I realised I might suffer from depression. After seeing my doctor (about 2 years ago), she prescribed me Prozac...which made my life hell. To cut a long story short I went cold turkey on it...which made things worse. A few months later I went back to see her and she prescribed Cipralex...or lexapro as I believe its referred to in general terms. This had awful side effects which I really couldn't deal with, so I stopped taking it...this time under the doctor's guidance. Anyway since then (about a year ago) I have been off meds. I've seen councillors gone through behaviour therapy etc, which have helped but not as well as I'd hoped.

I find myself mentally paralysed sometimes which has had a huge effect on my University work and general well being. I can't get to sleep at night until the early hours of the morning and then sleep into late afternoon.

Anyway I started taking 3 x 300mg SJW a day (for about a week now) and have noticed I feel even more tired and extremely short tempered- still the same sleeping pattern as before. so I stopped taking them before I went to bed and in the morning instead...I'm hoping this will make a difference.

so to the questions...

From experience, would any of you say that the tiredness effect fades over a period of time?

Has anyone else experienced a similar sleeping pattern, similar lack of concentration and felt that SJW has helped?

Thanks in advance

Jacob

Just wondering whether you are still taking the SJW, and if so, how you are doing now?

Yes I am still taking SJW, slightly better now that I've started taking it in the morning (or when I wake up?!?!). Haven't noticed an improvement as of yet in terms of my depression, but I'm well aware it's going to take time.

Are you taking it? If so, have you noticed a difference?

J

I've been taking SJW since 01/01/05, and feel so much better now. I'm calmer, and feel a lot happier in myself - I feel almost human again!!!!!

I would certainly stick with it, as it will work, but may take some weeks. I would also suggest that you try and do some exercise as well, even if it's just going for a 30 minute walk each day.

Don't give up!!!!
