Hello to all the readers of this forum, it is my first time posting here. I have had depression off and on for most of my adult life, and managed to live with it without any help of any kind, but this Winter the depression got a lot worse than it ever had been before. Winter has always been a tough time for me,but coupled with the fact that some things in my life aren't going very well, I sunk lower in depession than ever before. I didn't feel like getting out of bed, and dealing with another day,in fact when I could i would sleep twelve or more hours a day. It didn't matter if it was a bright sunny day, I couldn't see much in life that was positive, life seemed empty, pointless, full of trouble. I started drinking heavily, it made me feel good while I was buzzed, but when I sobered up, the depression was a lot worse for two or three days. I finally decided to talk to my doctor about it, he put me on wellburtin, I took them for five days and had to stop, the side-effects were terrible, I couldn't sleep, my anxities were at an all time high, I couldn't relax I was wired, I felt I was going to jump out of my skin. I serched the internet to find out all I could about depression and the medications used to treat it, thats when I found all of the web sites devoted to St. John's Wort (this is the best) I decided to try it, I've been taking St. John's Wort for four days now, and feel better all ready, I feel like doing a lot more things, I'm not as depressed, I don't have as many of the dark negative thoughts I used to have, and I actually want to get up in the morning to get things done. I haven't really noticed very much in the way of side-effects except mabey being a bit tense and anxious after taking a dose, and having vivid dreams( which I wouldn't really consider a side-effect) As I said I have only been taking St. John's Wort for four days, but if my improvment continues, I will be taking it for a long while to come

Hi,Shazlo. I am taking Jamieson (neurosome) brand, I don't think its quite as potent as some of the brands that I've read about here, but I don't have very many brands to choose from here where I live,( Eastern Canada) but it is working and thats the main thing.
