Topic Title: farewell, SJW
| | "farewell, SJW" , Tue 7 Dec 13:30
I last updated on the experience forum on 30th October. Since then, my SJW experience has been pretty negative. I've had mood swings, extremely intrusive negative thoughts, vivid bad dreams that affected my mood the next day, along with a heap of other SSRI-type side effects. Can't prove it was the SJW, but people often can't prove the link between side effects and prescription drugs and we believe they happen, so I'm willing to make the link.
So, today I went to the medic, explained the situation and I'm back on Prozac. It's worked for me before, without side effects, so I'm hopeful all will be well. If my head gets any more messed up, they may have to amputate :)

Your symtoms may not be side effects from SJW, but just that it was not working for you. The prozac probably works and thats why you have not got the same symptoms with that and you notice an alleviation of depression. I think for some people with severe depression SJW is not effective enough, they may need the help of stronger antidepressants.

I don't recall Prozac making me gain weight - the trick is to eat less and exercise if it happens. I never felt I was taking a "strong" drug when I was taking Prozac, either. I've never had side effects, or anything othr than a gradual alleviation of depression. When I came off SJW last week, I felt better than I had for weeks. I started Prozac a couple of days back - too early to attribute anything to the drug, but I still feel better than I did on SJW.

Hey, thanks for the information. I thought about one thing I forgot, did Prozac cause you any sexual side effects? Like unable to orgasm, weak orgasm, or low sex drive?

Sorry to hijack the thread, but did Prozac make you gain weight? I need something STRONG but I don't want to get 'blimpy'.

I can't say I noticed significant sexual side effects with Prozac with previous use. I haven't noticed anything this time, either. Then again, I felt a constant tingling in the sexual organs while on SJW. Almost like being on the edge of arousal, though not for any obvious reason. That stopped when I gave up the SJW and hasn't come back.
I'm not sure how Prozac's sexual side effects are measured. Seems to me that people who may have been depressed long-term are likely to lose interest anyway. In some cases, anhedonia, or the ability or desire to enjoy pleasurable things (sex or otherwise) can persist after the depression is alleviated.
