Topic Title: Why I stopped taking SJW
| | "Why I stopped taking SJW" , Thu 30 Sep 20:23
I've taken a few different SSRIs, I finally couldn't take the side effects of any of them and told informed my doctor of that I was going to try SJW. He supported me in this and SJW worked for me. It just didn't work well enough, I still suffered from the occasional depressive episode and anxiety along with moderate social anxiety. As of four months ago I decided to switch to Stablon (Tianeptine) which has worked exteremly well.
Stablon functions using completely different method then other anti-depressents. Instead of inhibiting the uptake of Serotonin it actually accelerates it. This cause the brain to compensate by activitating more Serotonin receptors in the brain. For me it alleviated my bi-polar depression almost completely. I no longer have deep depressive thoughts or moods, ever. I still got them on SJW. Sadly I also no longer have the amazing manic phases, probably a good thing though. During my manic phases I would plan thousands of things I would like to do, and then do absolutely none of them because I was too depressed 90% of the time.
My memory has also been restored to its pre-depression levels. I don't feel amazing the way I did on Prozac, and I don't feel the light tug of SJW. I just simply feel like Me!
(As always, YMMV)

Kai, Could you tell me where you can get Stablon? I've have searched the web and don't know which sources are reliable. My situation seems similiar to yours in that SJW just isn't enough. And I have the low moods, with mania at times. Have suffered for many years, but can't take any side effects of anti depressants.
Any info would be appreciated. Regards, CA

Since finding this site some 6 months ago, I have researched everything I can relating to depression. I am finding out more and more everyday. I have come to the conclusion that most often, at least based on chinese medicine, depression is related to the liver. I have been taking chinese gentian, blupreurum, coptis, and curcuma. I can feel the changes in my body. I am gradually begining to sleep better, I feel better emotionally, and as a woman, I am seeing a huge difference in my monthly. For all that are interested, research the herbs I mention. I will keep posting on my progress.

With Welbutrin you can sometimes get this slight feeling of dizzyness when you close your eyes-just for a moment. Also I got the worse dream I have ever had in my life with it. I wanted this med to work because of the reported lack of weight gain and lack of interference in sexual function, but unfortuneately it didn't, however it has worked for others. Good Luck! The side effects are non-existent for me, there are no sexual side effects, I sleep BETTER then I did before and my memory has improved. Contrast that to prozac for which my memory poor, bad attention span, and no libido.
Oh yeah, it makes my wallet somewhat lighter!
