Dear folks,I saw you mentioned the lack of info re:bipolar disorder and SJW,well my name is Roxanne,I am officially diagnosed with manic depression(bipolar disorder)as of 1998,about 2 weeks ago I finally decided to give SJW a shot, since I was really drowning in negativity and self defeating suicidal thoughts, confusion, indicisiveness and above all dayly uncontrollable crying spells and too many frivolous adrenaline rushes to even mention. From the very first dayI got myself a quality bottle of 60 caps to try it out)the results were outstanding, first of all I was not generally hostile when under stress,my voice was a few notches calmer and lower in the decibels,my crying spells immediatly were down to a couple of tears, quickly wiped and forgot(versus hours of it...)I also found myself full of inspiration/motivation/energy all day and started sleeping better at night,I can sincerely say it is saving a very important relationship in my life that was on the brinks of collapse due to my severe mood swings.I am alittle worried about the suspected neutralising interaction with the bierth control pill, since I am on it,together with strong pain medication adressing severe chronic pain, getting pregnant under such circumstances would be devastating, please anyone, let me know if this threat is real or just boycotting propaganda from the Prozac makers ect. It's been only 2 weeks I am on it now,so time will tell how it will stand over time, but I am confident, since I know for a fact Light has a lot to do with depression for many reasons I will skip for now.Thank you again.I love your site,it's very refreshing and educational, take care and keep in touch,I will be pleased to keep you updated in my future progress with this life saving natural remedy, from Canada, regards, sincerely:moondust

I love this site and SJW, I'm bipolar II, and I've been on SJW for over 6yrs. I'm very happy and pleased with result,I've never been so well in all my life, and I've used almost most of AD's.
............ good luck

Hello Moondust -
I hope sjw continues it's good work for you! I asked my doc about being on the pill and taking st johns wort, and she said it's fine, as long as you don't push the dose too high, as in more than 1,200mg a day or something like that, which is already over the normal dose of 900mg extract a day.
I can't actually take the pill as it pushes my mood swings into hyperdrive. I've never been 'properly diagnosed' with bipolar, but the tendencies are there and this type of 'thing' runs in my family, along with anxiety, OCD and general high level of malaise and stress.
I know people are always going on about how you shouldn't take sjw if you're bipolar, but I have heard quite a few success stories anyway - so it's obviously a good thing for a lot of people!
