| | "Pill vortex / Chinese herbalist?" , Sun 2 May 13:51:
I have been taking niacinamide for anxiety for about 2 months and have found that the intial effects of the antianxiety-ness has somewhat diminished. I am not sure if the fact that I changed brands made a difference - plan on buying the brand again that I initally used (Solgar) to see if that makes a difference. I have not tried taking plain old niacin - has anyone out there? I tried adding some inositol, but I had an experience that mede me feel pretty wired and jacked up and do not care to use it anymore. My anxiety has gotten pretty bad - new house, new baby - so, I purchased some kava online from a place in Hawaii to help me thru these more stressful times.
I made an appointment with a Chinese herbalist/acupunctuist for this week because I feel like I am taking so many pills and I wonder if the pill taking is becoming a vortex of sorts. I take fish oil, calcium/magnesium, GABA, gota kola (from this boards' recommendation), niacinamide, multi, extra multi B vitamin. Occasionally I will take rhodiola and in a blue moon, sam-e, and valerian root. Honestly, the kava is making me feel relaxed - whereas my usual concoction never gets me this way. I do not feel stoned or anything right now, but at ease with myself. And, it starts there - feeling at ease with myself and then I can handle other people and situations without being so irritable and bothered by them. I am plagued with depression and anxiety.
Anyways, hope that actually working with a herbalist will help. I am tired of randomly taking stuff. In my experience, no herb or medication has fixed anything long term - only perhaps 3-6 months at a time. Don't get me wrong, if I had more time to myself, I would love to investigate and research to my heart's content and figure out on my own how to fix *me*. I have used this site to help me figure out what might make a difference, and will continue to do so. I am keeping my fingers crossed that looking at myself holistically with the help of an herbalist will bring me longer and better results than the ones I am currently getting.
Does anyone here have experience with a chinese herbalist/accupuncturist? Your input would be greatly appreciated...
