Has anyone taken melatonin for a sleep aid & is it safe to take on a nightly basis? I've been taking it for nearly two years nightly & am wondering if it's leaving me with some side effects I don't know about, like depression? That's what I've been told anyway.

Maybe someone else knows something about it?

Thanks

I hear you loud & clear, so that's why I'm continuing to take it, but a herbalist did inform me to try & cut the melatonin out since it can cause depression.

Yikes & then I suffer from insomnia instead. What to do?

melatonin...interesting.
yvette got us a bottle of 3g dose sublingual melatonin not long ago. i've taken it, sometimes, as a sleep aid, with patchy results. since then, lately i've been feeling a little "out of sorts" in the depressed end of things. recently i've learned that an increase in natural brain melatonin levels has been linked to occurrences of seasonal affective disorder (S.A.D.). Jan. and Feb. are the biggest S.A.D. months...well, not to self-diagnose or anything, but given these observations, i'd personally use melatonin only as an occasional sleeping pill, if at all.

God bless!
