"Long Term Use of Gotu" , Thu 8 Apr 01:28:

As alot of us have discovered, Gotu Kola seems to have many positive effects. From what I've read, it was known as an elixor for longevity in China because one of the emperors used to drink it in his tea every morning and reportedly lived to something like 250years old (I think one of our years is equal to two of theirs LOL).

The question I would like to ask is, if it has so many good properties, does anyone know of any harmful effects it may have on your brain or body if it's taken for longer than 6weeks.

Some have said that its effects wear off after 5-6 weeks and that's the time you should take a 2 week break from it. But if the effects remain positive, does anyone know of any harmful side effects this herb may have?

Any links to websites etc would be appreciated. I have read the site posted about taking a break every 6 weeks, but I wonder if any research was done to prove this is required.

I hope I don't draw any fears about using this herb. It really has changed my life and from what I've seen/read about it so far it seems to have very little side effects. Probably less than sjw. But you can never be too careful, and if anyone has found any useful information I would love to hear from you.

Here's to feeling great!

(sorry I just realised this should have been in the questions section, but it kind of falls into the experiences section too, so I'll leave it here. Unless you have have any objections Kelly?)

Hello again,

I'd like to know this as well! I did try to find out, but the information on the internet is not very complete. It would be great to have some proper research done. As with Michael's comment, maybe this is something traditional Indian doctors know more about.

Let us know how you're feeling when you get to that six-week mark. If it's still working do you think you'll carry on, or take a break just to be on the safe side?

Cici

I read somewhere that gota can promote tumor growth in rats. Fish oil seems to be a good alternative. Studies have shown that it alleviates depression. Good luck with whatever you decide to take.
