I have been a sufferer for a number of years of bi polar(manic deppression) I find that the usual medication is really nasty and has so many side effects that I have been trying to do my best without it. I have managed for 3 years. The deppressive side has, of late been getting worse. I went to see my doctor and told him that I didn't want chemical medication and asked his opinion on SJW. He said "Give it a try and let me know" Well, I've only been taking it for 4 days and, so far it seems to be doing the trick. Very hard to tell as yet becuase BP is a tricky illness. I'll keep you informed.

My experience has been a little hard on the ears in this forum because it was a bit of a negative one. I am cyclothymic and sjw stimulated hypomania in me and i discovered that i could therefore not take it unless i was a little more careful. to be honest i felt a heightened sense of purpose and drive but it wasn't really real. if i ever tried it again i would talk out a precise doage plan with someone who has experience (not necessarily a doctor) and ask someone to keep an eye on my behaviour.
good luck.
also, most people start feeling the difference after a few weeks.

I was worried that the feelings I am having since taking SJW were the 'unreal' ones that I get when I am having a bout of mania. The difference is, so far is that they don't feel at all the same. When I have an 'up' in my illness I am usually aware of it and prepare myself for the ensuing 'down' period. People are saying that there is a difference in me, a calmness that they haven't seen for years. Naturally I hope this is a kind of 'cure' and not just a bout of 'upness'. It is a bit hard to tell at the moment conclusively as I am busy and off for a month in Spain next week. It's when I am not doing anything that I am at my worst.
