I've been taking SJW (900 mg at night) for 24 days. I also take vitamin and mineral supplements regularly, including B-Complex 50. I added TMG (Trimethylglycine or Betaine) about a week ago, and I think it's helping. I'm feeling more even keel (less depression and anxiety) despite stress at work and at home. I noticed that I'm breathing more deeply and am less reactive. I had considered taking SAM-e with the SJW to help it work more quickly and effectively (based on stuff I've read about SAM-e and anti-depressants), and the Chief mentioned that adequate B vitamins along with TMG could produce SAM in the body. I think I'm getting a good effect from this - thanks Chief. By the way, side effects the first two weeks on SJW for me were stomach cramps, tiredness, brain fog, possibly worse PMS and depression. But I did feel like it was working on something.... and now I feel generally better. I'm afraid I might be another victim of the acne side effect though. I'm hoping that will subside too. I do, or rather did, suffer from the acne problem on SJW. I found help with "phyto-estrogens" - plants that have a mild estrogen-like effect. Helps us girls anyway. Dong quai is excellent - simply got rid of it. Eating lots of soy products (tofu, miso, soya milk) is good as well. I havn't tried red clover or black cohosh, but I guess they would have the same effect.
My theory is that since SJW interferes with the contraceptive pill by making the synthetic hormones break down faster, it could have the same effect on natural hormones as well. I could be wrong - maybe it's an adrenal problem. But anyway the above things should help!

Pleasure E, glad to hear it's working. TMG is meant to be pretty good for you, I think it may even lower risks of heart disease.
I get the odd nasty great big zit with SJW, thankfully for me I get almost all my zits on my back, so no one notices... It hasn't been to bad though, but I take care of my skin and clean it with anti pimple stuff etc...
If you feel any social anxiety at all, gotu kola seems to be working for me... cici put me on to it and a few people have reported success on here including me... but it's early days yet.. It's meant to have some pretty good effects on your circulation as well, anti varicose vains as well as improving nerve function...
