Topic Title: For my girlfriend???

Hello everyone! I've been researching SJW for a few days now for my girlfriend. She's been having a hard time for a few months if not longer and I'd like to help her. Do you think that starting with SJW would be a good place to start? It sounds like it is by reading people's dialogue, but I was just wondering. She has so many of the symptoms that many people here have listed.

Thank you for your replies! She is trying the SJW now and has been for about a week or so. She seems to have felt an immediate (2-3 day) difference in her anxiety level. She tried going off of it for a bit and she says that there is definitely a difference when she's not taking it. She's going to stick with it for a while and see what happens. I do believe that this is stress-related but she does seem to feel better by taking the SJW. Whatever helps her is fine by me and it doesn't seem to cause any side effects as of yet. Thank you for your advice and I'll pass everything on to her. Brucifer- why do you not really recommend 5htp? I've actually not heard much about it...

well, there's obviously been so much good report on sjw - i would not and did not hesitate to try it out. however, i pretty much moved straight on to the 5htp after only a few days on sjw. i read that 5htp works almost immediately (and it did!) but sjw can take up to 2 months to feel the full effect. i didn't feel any better on the few days of sjw and i'm also worried about the possible acne side-effect. now, after about a 3-4 weeks on the 5htp, i feel much better. not sure if i need the sjw at all. from all the postings on this site, it's a sure thing that everyone's different, so doses and brands are all a very individual thing. you're so lovely to be so understanding of her depression - i know that that is what she needs most! there's no harm in trying the sjw - obviously works for most - but i definately recommend the 5htp. good luck! :dance1:

I would also say to try SJW, but I would say to hold off on the 5-HTP. Unless you know her serotonin levels are, there is no point in giving her a precurser to it. I personally take 900mg Perika all at night. My suggestion would be to take 400mg of Sam-E if you didn't want to wait for the SJW to kick in. Two weeks at full strength (barring any problems), with a phasing out of 200mg a day for the last four days. Also, remember that SJW is mainly for depression. If she is having anxiety attacks and the like, there are other avenues of treatment for that. Like Sashimi said, everyone is going to be different.
You said that your girlfriend has been having problems for the last couple of months? This sounds more like a stress-related depression, rather than a long-term affliction. Your girlfriend is going to have to address whatever is causing her stress; i.e. work, money, relationships, etc... Don't rely on SJW or anything else listed here as a 'magic bullet'.
