I hope, Wildcherries, that you did not know how to use punctuation before you use St John's Wort! I would hate to think that it has some kind of diabolical effect on a person's ability to puctuate! But seriously...
I have suffered severe depression for all of my adult life. I have suffered anxiety for about ten years. St John's Wort has alleviated the suffering. This is to say, the painful effects of anxiety, the inability to deal with things, the emotional over-reactions, the compulsion to over-react, these things have been alleviated, and I am very grateful.
I am calmer, I am sleeping better, and when the situations come up that make me want to react, I just feel a calmness, a sense of "it's not worth it".
I started taking sjw about 4 months ago, and I was amazed to feel some relief the same day. I had no interest in powerful psychotropic drugs that would dull my senses; I just wanted something that would help soothe my nerves. I understand that this might not work for everyone, but I would like to see some serious studies taken.
I hope to see some objective clinical trials done on the effect of hypericum perforatum, as I can see that it is warranted.
