Topic Title: Rhodiola
| | "Rhodiola" , Wed 14 May 13:51
Hi, just an update to my experiences with Rhodiola Rosea. After 4 months of taking it, I feel brilliant, content, full of energy and ideas and sleeping well. This is the best herb or medicine Ive ever taken for my condition; which evolves around anxiety/depression/social anxiety.
I found SJW made me duller and fatigued, and every pharmaceutical antidepressant also made me like this and did nothing for my mood, apart from Paxil, which worked once for me, but now just messes me up and makes me slur my speech!!!
I find myself concentrating better, working faster and really enjoying life, and just feeling so content, and warm inside.
Ill update in a couple of weeks or so, Im planning to take a break soon, so as not to build up a tolerance.
xx

Oh yeah, it also has nearly eradicated panic attacks for me.
I found myslef speaking up in class today with the confidence to be humourous and be myself, revealing my personality.
I hope everyone who tries rhodiola also has the same positive experiences.

I am really glad to hear of your success with this stuff, cause I just ordered some online the other day, and I'm trying to find alternatives for my depression and anxiety other than the SSRI meds... But what dosage are you taking now? What did you start out on? And what Brand are you taking, or do brands matter with this stuff?? Thanks for any response!

The brand I am currently taking is NATURES PLUS brand Rhodiola Rosea.
The dosage is 250 MG containing the standardised phytochemicals found in Rhodiola Rosea;
2.3% (5.75mg) rosavin 2.8% (7mg) salidroside 70% (175mg) polyphenols 5.4% (13.5mg) beta-vicianosides 1.4% (3.5mg) rosin 1.2% ( 3mg) rosarin and 100 mg raw rhodiola rosea powder.
This is the best brand to buy, but quite expensive at £18 for 2 months supply. just check that the supplement you buy is labelled as Rhodiola ROSEA and not just "Rhodiola" which could be any genus of the plant and not the proper ROSEA one, and that it contains 3% salidroside and 80% polyphenols. The dosage is recomended at around 200mg-500mg a day. Any more could be tranquilising AND NOT ANTI-DEPRESSANT or give you side-effects.
I take 1 at night, it seems neither stimulating nor relaxing, so I could take it at any time of the day really. It just helps me to drift off, whichg is probably just pyschological.
The only side effects I have noticed are ringing ears and a slightly disorientating drifty feeling when waking up and going to sleep, but I got used to that after a while.
Good luck xxx

Hi, there, Thank you so much for generously sharing your knowledge of rhodiola with us!
I was just wondering whether you have to take rhodiola with food or not.
thanks again, Ami

Sonic, are you in the UK? If so, where are you buying Nature's Plus from? I have to admit I was very impressed by the apparent quality of Nature's Plus products when I was researching rhodiola recently.

Hmm.. I've been taking Solgar which states:
Standardized Rhodiola Extract (root) (3 mg [1%] salidrozid, 100 mg [40%] polyphenols) 250 mg* Raw Rhodiola Powder (root) 100 mg* * Daily Value not established.
It seems less of the salidroside and doesnt even list the others! Think I might try and find Natures Plus!
