"poll" , Thu 8 May 10:55

I have been reading through many posts today and was wondering how many people can say that SJW helped there depression? I read more negatives than positives on the effect of SJW. I have been taking it for about 2 weeks now and have not felt much yet. (I know I need to wait longer)

Not everyone is helped by SJW, but I have had a very positive reaction to it. I started taking it at the beginning of December (five months ago) and when I compare how I felt during October and November and how I've felt since Christmas I can see that SJW has made a huge difference. I still have a lot of trouble concentrating on anything, which is slightly disappointing because I had put that down to being depressed, but I do feel a lot happier.

Absolutely a positive experience for me as well. I first started taking SJW about well over a year and a half ago now, and I have been helped enormously by it. Much like Daniel I can say that I am a different person now compared to the one I was before I started doing something to help myself.

Of course I still have 'down days' but I can be pragmatic enough now to put them down to the simple fact that I am but a mere human being, and can't feel great all the time (SJW or not!!!).

I would describe my experience with SJW in two words: "life saver". I've been taking it for about the same time as you David (18 months) and my general mood and outlook are very different to when I started.

I would go so far as to say that the last 18 months have been an epiphany for me. SJW gave me the confidence and foundation to come to terms with the nature of the depression/dysthymia I have suffered all my life. It is no longer an inevitable tidal force; I am back in the driver's seat. It's like I had no self-love, then re-discovered the nurturing side of myself.

At the start, I envisaged a time when I would stop taking SJW, and I must admit I have tried. I even thought of experimenting with prescription ADs. Now I don't see the point. I don't fear any long term side effects, it appears to be working extremely well and it is cheap enough for me to keep using indefinitely.

It's a truism to say that SJW is not for everyone, but it's for even less people if you don't get informed about brands, dosage and supportive therapies. That's the lesson I draw when I step back from the forum.

I started taking St-John's Wort along with a B-complex approximately a month ago and have had great success (touch wood). I have experienced mild to moderate depression for most of my life (I am 28) and had a really bad case when I was about 18. Anyways, so far I have noticed that I have more energy, less anxiety and a better overall feeling of "wellness".
Also, working on changing my negative mental habits has been very important in slowly turning my life around. I always try to be aware of what I currently thinking so I don't perpetuate the unrealistic, negative thoughts that seem to pop up automatically.

SJW was wonderful! I felt instantly better, the first day I took it! I stopped taking it because of the light sensitivity issue. But I often, often, Often think of taking it again, because I did feel so well on it.

Count me too. I was very skeptic when I first started it. It took a couple of weeks but results have been good.
