Hi -
was doing some research, trying to find out why I reacted so strongly to SJW (permanently feeling awake, insomnia etc), as very few people seem to have this reaction; in fact it seems to be the opposite.
Norepinephrine and Epinephrine:
Apparently these are neurotransmitters that elevate mood and alertness. Tyrosine is the precursor to these. In excess, they produce 'fight or flight' symptoms (for me this was a panic attack).
Dopamine:
This is also a precursor to Nor.. and Ep.. Low levels of dopamine are associated with thrill-seeking.
SJW MAYBE acts as MAO inhibitor, so you get left with more dopamine in your brain, which I guess means in the end you get more of the Nor.. and Ep.., which means more alertness and better mood, IF that's how your brain reacts.
Just research - most people finds it produces fatigue, so it would be good to know why people seem to fall into different 'groups' regarding their reaction, and how this is related to different types of depression (nobody seems to know anything about this yet).
For me I think it was all just too much - it's either depression + sleep or no depression + no sleep.
I'm sure there is an answer out there.
Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, I am very tired.
