Topic Title: First Post--Back on SJW

Hello everyone,
I found this great site months ago (September) when I was suffering my worst bout with depression I have ever experienced. I never posted, but other people's posts helped tremendously. It is good to know other people feel similar to me because you can't understand depression unless you've been there yourself.
To make a long story short, I took SJW for 4 months and felt great by the end. About 6-8 weeks into the 4 months, I thought I had felt the full effects of SJW, but it took another few weeks until I realized its full potential. I noticed that not only was I not depressed and feeling hopeless anymore, but my angry mood swings decreased a lot also. I started with 3 pills a day and gradually went down to 1 a day. I ended the semester (I'm a college student) feeling great, so I stopped taking SJW.
I felt good for a couple months off of SJW, and then recently, things started to go wrong in my life and I think that triggered the extremely negative feelings. Eventually I found myself deeper and deeper into the same hole I had vaulted out of months earlier. Although I don't feel as bad as I did in September, I am not myself again, and I promised myself that I'd go back on SJW if I needed to. So, here I am, back reading posts again, and I just thought I'd introduce myself as I have been taking SJW again for a couple weeks now. I just hope it kicks in as well for me as it did the first time :(
TO EVERYONE WHO IS STARTING OUT: All I know is that St. John's DID work well for me, but the key was to stick w/ it and not think miracles will be worked in the first month to 6 weeks.
Good luck to all

Dear Tommy,
This is my first post in this forum, I do feel down sometimes, have never taken SJW.
I really enjoyed reading your post, it is very inspiring!
Could you tell in more detail how you felt during the first weeks on SJW?
Elllie.

Hey Elllie,
I took SJW with the .3% hypericin which is standard: 3 pills a day (900 mg) for about 3 weeks 2 pills a day (600 mg) for about 4-5 weeks 1 pill a day (300 mg) for about 8 weeks.
3 pills a day: I didn't like the way I felt at first: I got bad headaches and if I drank alcohol I felt dizzy. There were other little things too that I honestly don't remember. I stuck w/ it on 3 a day though cuz I wanted to feel better.
2 pills a day: I was feeling a little better and didn't want to take so many pills a day. 2 pills worked a lot better for me. I didn't have headaches anymore and could drink more w/out feeling sick/dizzy. I was already feeling better than I used to and I knew it was working.
1 pill a day: No side effects, felt great. My family and friends told me that I was much more even tempered and better to be around :) and I felt great, better than in a long time. I started to feel the "full effect" at this point. The only reason I stopped is b/c I didn't want to depend on anything, but that might have been a mistake considering where I'm at now.
I think for me 3 a day was necessary back then b/c I was feeling horrible, but this past bout isn't as bad, so I started on only 2 a day and plan to do this for awhile until I feel I can go down to 1 a day.
The point is just to not think you will feel a ton better until at least 6 weeks (which is the same w/ all medicine for depression, for some reason it takes time to work). I highly recommend SJW and I'm glad I tried it out.
Hope this helps, keep me updated.

Hey all,
Yeah I was taking St. John's Wort 'Wild Harvest' for awhile along with several other supplements. Didn't notice a huge change but recently on the Phyto Proz Supreme I've been feeling it very much. I appreciate your above posting because as I was taking all thos pills before but now that I switched to the GAIA I am thinking I need to down the dosage. Or maybe weed out some of the contents to find which is effecting me negatively. I seem to get tired earlier but have pretty good energy during the day. I was having stomach pains, head kind of cloudy like, just not entirely good stuff. I've taken prozac and I agree with the medicated feeling people refer to when describing it. I do feel an ocassional focus high on the prozac but a medicated stupifying feeling just as much it seems. The Phyto Proz is a bit more evening for me.
Thanks, Paul
