"could it be a placebo effect?" , Fri 14 Mar 10:53

Hello my fellow sjw takers:

I just started taking St. John's Wort with a combination of Kava Kava yesterday. SJW 200 mg and Kava Kava 200 mg. After taking the pill about an hour maybe even a half hour later I feel very calm. Could this just be a placebo effect or could this actually work that quickly? I've read many individuals say that it usually takes a week or two before you feel the effects. Could it be the Kava Kava that relaxes me this quickly or does even that take time to take effect? Either way it's helping and I hope it keeps it up. By the way this website is great. By far better than any other. Everyone who posts on this website is very empathetic and generally care for eachother. It's almost like this website is a fraternal and sorority organization. Thanks to all and may God keep you healthy.

My bet is on the Kava Kava. When I take it I notice the same FAST relief. I say when cuz I don't take it often. It was in the news last year re:liver problems. I searched but could never find what the doses over time were for the reported cases. Most of the cases also involved other drugs known to cause liver problems so blaming it all on Kava might be a leap. Anyway, I'm not looking for liver problems to go along with my anxiety etc. so I save the Kava for my "I can't stand it anymore" moments, at least till more info comes out re: the liver toxicity.

I believe it really is a physciall effect. Some people are more sensitive than others. For me I felt affects within 5 minutes. I was taking a liquid form though. Just like caffeine and alcohal affects people differently at different times, I believe herbs and medicines do the same.

I agree it is physical. I have had various responses. May much to do with body weight, tolerance, or brand as well.
