Somebody out there please help! I have been taking SJW about a week now, just over really. As with many other people, I was taking too little to start with and then upped the dose after reading the messages on this site. I did feel a lift in my mood once I upped the dose but once before a few days ago and then again today I had the most painfully debilitating heacache/migrain I think I've ever had. I just had to go back to bed. I took a couple of nurophen/ibuprofen as I would normally do but that just made the pain and nausea worse. It was excruciating to say the least. Has anybody else had these kind or any other side effects with SJW?? If so, do they wear off after a while?? Has anybody heard of 5htp having this or any other side effects. I am even more depressed now because the thing I thought would help me has made me even worse. Incidentally I was taking Kira brand of SJW. HELP!!!!

I remember reading some posts possibly a couple months ago about headaches and sjw. If you use the search feature on this site and put in the word headache or migraine it might pull the posts up for you. Good luck. I suffer from bad headaches when the weather changes but the sjw has never effected me this way. Maybe somone else will reply to your post.

SJW gave me heartburn at the beginning, when I started with three Kira tablets. So, I just took one tablet a day for about a month, and then took two for the next month, maybe even every other day for the next month. Eventually, I was taking the 3 tablets a day, and it worked great for me!! I think, now, it is a good idea to start taking something very slowly, and to not start off with the full dose, and to taper off just as slowly if you've been taking it for a while. Give your body time to adjust.

I had to stop taking SJW. It made my depression WORSE. I had absolutely no energy and could hardly stay awake. I was mad all the time. I took it about 3 weeks. I cried alot. (My husband left for the Persian Gulf) I stopped taking it and felt much better within 2 days. After 1 week off I feel much much better. I'm glad it helps some people but it didn't work for me.

Being mad all the time falls within normal experience with SJW, because it increases your emotions.
