Topic Title: Muscle tension, stomach cramps, fatigue?

I'm experiencing all of these after 3 weeks on SJW. Could they be side effects of SJW, or are they likely unrelated?
If they might be side effects, can they be alleviated by taking other supplements? I've seen that many people take a B-vitamin supplement.
One thing I find strange is that the brand I take includes ginko. When I took it before bed, it made me wired. That was during the first week. Then I switched to taking SJW in the morning, and that was fine. Now, I'm feeling fatigued, and would take the SJW before bed, but it still has the ginko. Not sure what I should try now, except switching to another brand that doesn't have ginko in it.

I don't know about muscle tension, but stomach cramps, fatigue, and feeling wired are all possible side effects of SJW. I felt wired for a few days a while back, and the only plausible explanation was SJW. It passed quite quickly. I've never taken it, but I think the main possible side effects of Gingko are stomach upset and headaches, which pass after a couple of weeks.
I suggest you change to a brand without Gingko, and see how you feel on that. Take it before bed if it causes you fatigue, but bear in mind that it might be the SJW that causes you to feel wired, not the Gingko. And that should pass after a while. If SJW, rather than Gingko, is causing the stomach cramps then take it with food (if you don't already) and plenty of water. When you've given SJW on its own a chance, you can think about adding Gingko if you want to.
The side effects I was getting disappeared before I started B-vitamins, so I can't comment on whether they would help but since I started taking them I have noticed a slight improvement in the effect of the SJW. When I was feeling wired, I took Valerian root to calm me down. It worked during the day, but didn't always help me get off to sleep. However, many people find that it does help them sleep.
In another thread, you said you weren't feeling much of an antidepressant effect yet. As you've only been taking SJW for three weeks, you may need to wait a little longer for the side effects to pass, and for the positive effects to start. I felt some effect almost straight away, but had to wait five weeks for a really good, stable effect. Having said that, I think changing brands is a good idea, so you can work out how much these side effects are caused by SJW, and how much by Gingko. In my opinion, the best brands generally contain only SJW, and not other herbs. Adding more stuff doesn't necessarily improve the effect, and only leads to confusion about where the effects and side effects are actually coming from.
Hope this helps, Dan

Thanks, Daniel. I think you're right that the first step is to try a brand without ginko, so I can see what's causing what. I have also noticed that I'm getting headaches in the evening, and that could be related to the ginko. I didn't expect to see much in the way of anti-depressant effects this early, but was pleasantly surprised during the first week. I guess when those effects wore off, I got a bit discouraged.
I'll switch to a different brand that has only SJW in it, and keep trying.
