Topic Title: It's worth the wait

Hello,
I've been taking St John's Wort for 5 months. It took about 8 weeks before I felt the full effects, but it was worth the wait.
My St John's experience has been that it doesn't remove emotions like the prescription SSRI's do. It just takes the jagged edge off of them.
I was prescribed Paxil 2 years ago for depression. I had to put my dog to sleep, and I took it very, very, hard. I didn't like the effects of Paxil, I only stayed on the full dosage for 30 days.
This summer my parents divorced after 47 years, and my mother moved away from the family. I started St. John's after that and have found it to be extremely helpful to me.
I wanted to tell others that I have done extensive research into St. John's Wort. I've read many good books, and I've read thousands of web-pages about it. I'm not the type of person that feels comfortable with prescription medication. I don't trust pharmaceutical companies. But I feel safe with St. John's. Just stay with it. It's worth the wait.

Hello Frank,
I use a brand called Enzymatic Therapy. I take 1 300 mg capsule at 8 am, 12 noon, and 4 pm. I like to take mine earlier in the day because when I first started taking 3 a day I had trouble sleeping. Initially I was only taking 2 capsules a day.
I live in an area that is loaded with health food stores. They all recommended Enzymatic Therapy as a superior product. I currently buy mine through the internet at VitaCost.com. Their prices are great.
I also recommend a book by the orthomolecular psychiatrist Dr. Hyla Cass. Her practice is in CA. I can't remember the name of the book, but you can look it up on the internet. I checked it out at my local library. She provides an indepth look at St. Johns. How to take it, and case studies that have worked with her patients.
I've done a lot of internet research on St Johns, and Enzymatic Therapy keeps being mentioned. I have been very happy with it.
Good luck to you, and let me know how you are doing.

I just started taking it a week ago and what a difference i feel. The Doctor wanted me to take Paxel and I came home and read up on it and all the side affects. I then found this site and did some reading and decided to give it a try. I am not having the anxiety and panic that I was living with a week ago. I feel about 95% better and I really thought I was loosing it. I have had no side affects other then not sleeping so well but I will give that some time. But im aslo not freting with my thaughts all night like I usto. We just bought a house this week and I have not stressed over it once, before the thought of it would have made me panic, dont deal with change very well. So far im happy with moving and very positive instead of saying oh my god what have I done. I want to thank this site for giving me lite and happyness again. Im more relaxed and not dreading my every move. Thanks SJW
