Hello everyone:
It's been a fairly long while since I have posted anything on here, but after treating my depression very successfully with SJW for about 8 months, I then stopped taking it (this June) and was fine for about 4 months when about 1 month ago I felt the dreaded apathy, tiredness and unhappiness slowly creeping back into my life...the catalyst I believe, being utterly bored with my job and occassionally feeling homesick for merry old England!
Anyway, today (which as it turns out is exactly one year and one month since I first took SJW seriously), I started taking it again...Quest 333 mg's as before, and now am just witing in anticipation for the next 6 weeks to whizz by...looking forward to the vivid dreams and the racing heart with utter relish (so that I know the stuff is starting to work), and hoping that things will improve soon before the Russian winter sets in (I'm actually looking forward to it is a strange sort of way - want to see how cold it really gets over here!).
Some points of possible interest I noticed after stopping SJW (no formal weaning off or gradual dosage reduction) are that I was able to drink red wine again with no problems...which was rather nice...but the main thing is that after coming off I was really plagued by a couple of really severe bouts of colds, flu and acoughs which hung around for months without me being able to shake them off...I remember reading about SJW being used to treat infections, but was wondering if anyone else who had come off after a long time had noticed similar...also if anyone had read anything related to this (just interested to see if the 2 factors are connected)...Epyx - maybe you could do some research for me mate??...my work schedule doesn't allow me time to do any reading these days!!

Hi David,
I remember you posting around the time I started on this site. Sorry you are not feeling so good lately - I hope the Quest works as well for you this time. I tried Quest a couple of months ago, but they didn't seem to work as well as Kira. Unfortunately Kira is sooo expensive here (UK) as you are probably aware. My next plan is to try Perika from Nature's Way, which I would have to order from the US, but even with shipping costs that would still be cheaper than buying Kira here.
Do you buy you SJW on the net, or get it sent from England or something? What is the situation with SJW in Russia? I am also taking 5htp, which works well in combination I have found.
I haven't noticed anything to do with colds and SJW, but I do suffer with bad sinus problems and I'm sure I read somewhere that either SJW or 5htp can do something to your nasal cavity. That sounds a bit vague but I can't remember what I read now. Perhaps someone could enlighten me? I know what you mean about the dreams - mine have always been vivid but just lately, particularly on 5htp, they've been pretty mind blowing.

Thanks for the reply...Kira is certainly expensive in the UK, and although I always took (and now take) Quest, I know that Kira has a good reputation and that many on this site seem to use it. Do be wary of changing brands, because I have read many-a-story about people who did just that and then had problems afterwards with renewed initial effects and 'waiting for it to work periods'.
As far as getting SJW out here, I don't think it is available...or if it is it would be extremely hard to find and mind blowingly expensive...thankfully before I came out here (April) I bought 3 150 tablet jars of Quest and still have two of them, so I should be OK until I visit home next February.
Don't worry too much about the vivid dreams - they are normally confined to the initial coule of months of SJW (not sure about 5-htp)- afetr that they normally subside...mine completely disappeared except for when I was mega tired.

If I understand correctly... U are in Russia.
Currently there are two brands with SJW on russian market. NEGRUSTIN (means don't get upset or something) and DEPRIM.
First has higher content of extract, and later has less extract, but of higher quality. Try them out; they are probably much cheaper than stuff from UK. Your questions about side effects: well from clinical viewpoint: it's possible but highly unlikely that discontinuing treatment with SJW would have anything to do with catching cold.

You are correct in your assumption that I'm in Russia (Moscow) - are you also living here??
If so, where could I buy the brands you mention - I definately have enough to last me until I get back to the UK for a few weeks - but that kind of information is always useful!

No, I don't live in Russia
I work in pharmaceutical company as brand manager for one of mentioned products. I belive that you can buy both brands in most pharmacies in Moscow (like 36,6 chain). Negrustin has capsules with 425 mg extract and 1,3 mg of hypericin(supposedly active substance)(take one capsule one to 2 times daily). Deprim has coated pills with 60 mg of extract with 0,3mg hypericin in one pill (take 3 pills a day). This is not the right place for advertising, so choice is yours.
