Maybe misery loves company, but knowing there are a lot of people out there like me is a great help in itself. So many of your situations and experiences are similiar to mine. It's great to be able to talk to people about your problem and they don't treat you like your nuts. I think the common denominator is we all want to be drug free and I think that says a lot about our mental toughness. It would be real easy to say I'll just go the easy route and take the prescription meds, but we are all trying to find the right way. In these days where so many people try to self medicate I think we should congratulate each other for our determination to get better the right way. I think it shows that in spite of our shortfalls we are stronger than we give ourselves credit for!!!!!

Kudos to everyone.

Hi William
I'm glad you are finding the site so helpful - I am too. Though about being "drug free" - SJW is a drug, like any other. I'm not in agreement that it is necessarily better to be on it rather than a prescription drug, or that that decision alone shows strength of character. I was on it for several months and am now on Prozac. Both have their ups and downs, and being on a prescription drug isn't of itself an easy option - all decisions around treatment involve a lot of factors, and sticking with any treatment, drug or therapy, takes patience, with much trial and error.
OK, I've got that off my chest! Good luck to you. Bridget.

Bridget,

I apologize if I offended you. I probably did not make my point as well as I should have. I was just expressing my opinion about herbal remedies as opposed to prescription drugs. I'm sure if everyone wanted to they would try the natural or SJW route and I have not heard nearly as many comments about side effects from SJW as I have about Paxil. My point was even though Paxil may be stronger in eliminating anxiety the people on this board are trying with alternative remedies and I congratulate them for that. For all I know I could be back on the prescription meds again, but I'm trying my hardest not to. I in no way was trying to insinuate that people taking prescription meds were weak. You have to go with works best and what gives you your life back. We are all in this together.

best of health!

Bill
