Topic Title: A new user of St. John's Wort

I was a previous user of Paxil for my anxiety. It worked good, but the sexual side effects were awful. My doctor switched me to Serzone, but it gave me bowel problems. I gradually got off Serzone and my doctor prescribed something new. I never took the latest prescription and I was doing fine for about three months, but I can feel the anxiety starting up again. I went to the store to try St. John's Wort bacause I heard good things about it and I did not want to be dependant on a prescription medicine. The first pill I took calmed me down immediately, I was amazed!!!!! Any help or suggestions on brands or dosage would be helpful. It's nice to know there are totally normal people like myself experiencing the same problems with anxiety.
Good luck to everyone!

i have tried to look at as much info on the internet that i could find on sjw. i found that a brand that is standardized typed on the bottle is better to get so it guarantees a certain amount of dosage per pill. i have found somewhere where some independent study tested the accuracy of dosages of some pills , not a lot of brands, but safeway select brand of about 6 that were posted was the most accurate at 90% and the price is not bad. 10 bucks for 60 pills if i remember correctly.
i started sjw about 1 week and a half ago and am taking 3 pills a day. i think for the first 4 or 5 days i could really feel it. it kind of made me feel dopey and great. but i am used to the strenght now. i do not sit there and feel down or think and worry too much now. i sometimes feel anxiety but it goes away quicker. i have also started vit b complex which helps stress and concentration. i have heard people say they take it with sjw. i wanted to take sjw because i am always worrying and feel anxiet and stress. and feel grumpy in the morning and don't want to get out of bed, etc, and worry excessively. i am feeling pretty good now. a whole lot clearer in my head. i think back through all my teen years and i bet i had depression then too. or anxiety? it feels great now. you can check the message i posted here somewhere i explain more my story. i am 28 now.
good luck taking sjw. i will go to a herbalist soon and get more info and maybe seek medical advice after that because i do not want to live no more with a cloud over my head. liza

Liza,
I'm happy to hear you're doing well. My results from SJW are definitely helping, but I'm worried that my body will get used to it and I'll be right back where I started. I too feel my anxiety creeping in, but it also disappears if I channel my thoughts elsewhere.
Good luck to you and keep me updated.
Bill
