I am new to this site and have had chronic Yeast and Candida for 15 years. the doctors think it's becaue of depression _ I'm not so sure - I have been on and off all kinds of anti-depressants, but to no avail - my side effects are so bad, they that I stop after about 3 weeks - I started taking SJW yesterday just to see what happens, and I am feeling fatigued. I'm very curious to find out if anybody else out there has had chronic/systemic vaginal yeast and has SJW helped them? Thanks for your feedback

Dear Debby I had this problem years ago. Frankly chronic thrush can MAKE you depressed. It is wretched. Much much sympathy to you. i am guessing that you are doing all the good things with cotton underwear and no perfumes, bubble baths or sprays "down there!!!". What really helped me was making a total break with sugar. Yes the new white death. The little yeasty organisms feast on the stuff. This is really hard to do for two reasons. 1 everything you buy has sugar in it (almost) bread, baked beans, plain crackers, soup etc etc etc all have sugar in them. You have to read labels very carefully for a while. Reason 2 is that sugar is addictive. When you give it up you will have MAJOR CRAVINGS and WEIRD SYMPTOMS (like head aches and insomnia)and TEMPER TANTRUMS. You will feel hungry all the time even after you have just eaten. This is because your body is lookihg for its sugar fix. I suggest you wean yourself down. Give up alcohol and sweeties for about a week, then hack back on the hidden sugar additives. Fruit contains a natural sugar and can help with the cravings. ALthough fruit should be a regular part of your diet I found i had to cut it out for about 2 weeks untill the yeast organisms were dead.
Today I eat a low sugar diet, I have deserts and "sweets" a few times a week and have no problems at all. Red wine is the only thing I need to be careful with but can drink that a few times a week without any itchy side effects.
The other thing that really helped me was tea tree lotion. Thursday Island PLantation Company make this - I don't know if it is available outside Australia. If you can get Tea Tree oil a tea spoon full in a cool bath will help.
Best of luck to you Debby - I hope it works out well.
hugs
Weezel
