Hi, I have never been clinically diagnosed as being depressed, but then again I've never been brave enough to go to a docter to speak to them about how I feel. Two years ago my boyfriend died in a train crash, and since then I have been flitting in and out of depression, sometimes getting to the point of not being able to get out of bed and seriously contemplating what the point in life is at all. A friend recommended St johns wort for me to try and I have been on it now for a week. I do feel better in general but I have been noticing that it makes me have strange panic attacks that I've very rarely ever had before.
When I am on the tube ( the underground in London) in the morning and it's packed and it stops in a tunnel, (this happens very often), I start to get very flushed and feel like I'm going to faint, I find it hard to breath and have thoughts racing through my mind of oh my god what if we get stuck in here ? how will I get out ? I am under the ground and I can't get out and I have to take very big deep breaths and try and calm down or get of on the next stop go outside get some fresh air and then try again. This only happened a few times before I took SJW and I have had a look at the side effects pages and haven't seen anything about Panic attacks.
has anyone had similar experience from SJW and do you know how I might be able to make it go away ?
Thanks R.

I have taken SJW and it has helped with panick attacks for me. If the condition persists, try Kava,it is very good for your problem, from my own experience. However I quit taking it because of the publicity on the liver damage. I had taken Kava for five years straight and have had no problems. Good Luck!

You have not been taking SJW very long. One thing I don't see mentioned on this site is that there can be a temporary slight increase in anxiety feelings after a person starts SJW and is beginning to feel the effect. What you are feeling may just be temporary.
