Hi everyone,

Loved looking through all the posts, and it gave me confidence that trying SJW would be worthwhile.

I've been suffering with panic attacks / anxiety / agoraphobia / depression, and have been trying very hard indeed to keep my treatment 'natural'. So no prescribed anti-depressants or tranquilisers for me!

So, I'm trying SJW, just 5 minutes ago taken my first 300mg of Solgar's '300'. I'm going to start on that daily for a while, before upping it to 600 (which Solgar recommends). I'm going to post another post in the 'brands' forum about dosage as Solgar's label is confusing me a little!

Fingers crossed.

Simon, thanks for your posts. I am also trying to get out of my panic/agoraphobia situation drug free. I would be really interested to know more about how its helping you - I am about to start with SJW tonight. Perhaps we can compare notes? Cheers Red - [email protected]

Okay, 48 hours in now. Still on just 300mg.

Both nights I've slept okayish, fairly deeply, but have woken one or two times, not sure if it's SJW related or not to be honest.

Took a dose last night, before sleeping, and today I feel not too bad, but extremely bored! Haven't felt bored in ages. I've felt down, depressed, fed-up, worthless etc, but not bored!

I'm so bored I'm almost wanting to go out and do something! Me! Wanting to go out!

Again, no idea if it's the SJW or not, but a change is as good as a rest, boredom is better than depression!

I'm tempted to up the dosage to 600mg tonight, but maybe that's just too soon? I'm quite a big guy (well built, rather than fat), so I'm thinking 300 is just not enough - I'll do some reading around on dosage, but maybe someone will reply here soon enough.

Been a while sine I posted, but here's what's been happening.

I upped to 600mg for a couple of days, and then thought, it's not having any seriuos effects, negative or positive, so I upped it to 900mg, taken an hour before sleep.

Well, over the following week, I seemed to settle down, very little change in mood, just a constant good mood. And, I felt much more confident, and worked on my agoraphobia, by going out more and more, and ended up going well outside my comfort zone each time.

I'm impressed!

Yesterday I had a session with my hypnotherapist, working on some 'Emotional Freedom Techniques' ( http://www.emofree.com )

Felt great after the session, ready to conquer the world!

Then, this morning I woke up, felt down, depressed, didn't want to get out of bed, certainly didn't want to go anywhere.

I hunted around my thoughts to why this could be happening, then, I remembered, I had forgotten to take the SJW!! So I blamed it on that, so took some later on at breakfast. Wonder if I'll pick up later on today!

Anyone else had that happen - they forgot a dose and felt the negative effects?

I have found good success using SJW within the 2 weeks I've been using it. It will help all of the above and do as good a job as an SSRI IMO. I took Paxil and I think SJW works just as well.

If SJW seems to only take you so far, as is the case with me, then you may suffer from a serotonin deficiancy and without enough serotonin SJW won't work as well. I've just started taking 5-htp to raise my serotonin and it works wonders. I tried 5-htp alone and it didn't work that well. I assume I just re-uptaked all the serotonin, thus negating the extra that 5-htp was suppling. It is safe and recommended to take SJW and 5-htp together and I just wanted to let you know that the combo is fantastic.

I take the standard dosage of SJW and right now I'm only taking 50mgs of 5-htp twice a day and it seems to be good for now. But I will up the dosage if needed. I highly recommend this regime, but I would wait at least 2 weeks until SJW takes effect, that way you are at least starting to block the re-uptake of serotonin.

Good luck!!
