"Are headaches a possible side effect of SJW?" , Wed 18 Jul 06:18

My husband recently started taking SJW, (one week ago), since then he has started getting bad headaches, similar to "cluster" headaches he had as a teenager. Since he hasn't had theses headaches or any headache really since he was 18 or 19 (he's now 31) we were thinking it may be the SJW causing the headaches. I searched the web to read up on cluster headaches & the Drs seem to think one of the possible causes may be seratonin levels, since that is also associated with depression I was wondering if the side effect if it is a side effect might wear off as his body gets accustomed to the SJW & his seratonin levels, stabilize. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Could this possibly be related to its supposed MAOI activity? I'm getting these headaches too... I'm going to follow an MAOI diet and see what happens.

I took SJW for a few months with no problems at all. Now I'm getting terrible headaches. This has ben going on for about 6 weeks. I've tried everything hoping it wasn't the SJW. If I don't take it for a day, my headache instantly goes away. I've been taking SJW on and off for weeks because of it. This is the first week I've stop taking it completely. Now I'm back to being pretty depressed, so this morning I took again and I have a huge headache. I was searching the web to see if this is a common side-effect. I haven't found any way to get rid of it. I've tried lots of water, I only take one a day, I've tried at different times of the day, with or without food. The only thing I can think of is perhaps the sensitivity to light? I see a lot of e-mails posted about that. I program duing the day and stare at the computer quite a bit. If you and your husband find something that work, let me know. I know for me it definitely seems to be the SJW that causing the headache. Good Luck : )

hi there, when I first started SJW, I was plagued by headaches. I lowered my dosage for a little while and the headaches subsides a little. I'm now taking 600mg a day as life has been a bit bumpy but in general I feel ok. Headaches compared to how I was feeling doesn't seem so bad

I have started taking 300mg twice daily. My first day I was almost incapacitated with a so-called cluster migraine. I'm hoping that it is because my levels are so outta whack!!! I have endured the recent loss of my mom and a court battle with my ex of 6 years within two months. Sometimes the body just can't keep up! I think I've suffered from mild depression from time to time in my life and I can't wait to feel better! Aside from the headache otherwise I feel ok.
