"Switched to Perika, doesn't seem as good" , Tue 25 Jan 19:35

Hi, I started off using Nature Way's St. John's Wort Standardized Extract 900mg nightly, and it was actually working pretty well. After seeing all the excitement over Perika on this board, I switched to that formulation after I ran out of the regulard standardized. So far (after about 2 weeks of Perika, which started after about 4 weeks of Nature's Way Standardized) the effectiveness has dropped off after starting Perika. This could probably be due to a lot of factors, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Thanks!

Anyone who claims that ANY mood-adjusting product works for just about everybody and then makes you feel guilty or inadequate by saying or implying "it should be working for you, too" is at best very ignorant about supplements and at worst lieing through their teeth for financial gain.

H2) BUFFALO: Obviously I am a huge fan of Perika. I do not believe that Perika is for every single person. However, I would advise people not to just take Perika for a couple of days and then give up on it saying "it doesnt work for me." SJW, no matter what brand, does take time. One should give it at least 4 weeks before deciding that it does not work. Perika is standardized in it's content. There are other brands that Kelly has mentioned on earlier pages and they are worthy of trying out as well. All those he mentioned are very reputable brands and compare well to Perika. I like the product so much I have used it as my username. But now I am thinking that perhaps that is not a good idea because I do not want to give the appearance that Perika is the be all end all. So perhaps I will consider going under another name.

"Enough BS: PERIKA SUCKS for some people." , Wed 26 Jan 01:23:

Hi Jcabol-

The majority of common SJW brands are standardized to the component hypericin. Perika is standardized to the component hyperforin, and the hypericin content is low. Contrary to some claims, the jury is still out on what exactly the active component of SJW is. However, some people respond better to hypericin-standardized brands, while some other people respond better to hyperforin-standarized brands. I have used three hypericin brands, and they all work well for me. I have also tried using Perika during two trials, and both times I went into a terrible tailspin as if I were not taking anything at all. Use a brand that works best for you, not a brand that Perika missionaries (and marketers?) force on you.

Thanks for your help. I just bought some of the HBC Protocols SJW that is standardized for hypericin and hyperforin, we'll see how that works. I wish they wouldn't put so much B-12 in the tablets, though. If that's a no go, I'll probably go back to the Nature's Way Standardized.

To be fair, I think the Perika helped more than I thought. I stopped taking it for a few days, and was markedly worse. The effects, though, were not nearly as positive as the Nature's Way Standardized.

Hi,

I can't comment specifically on Perika as I've never tried it, but normally I take SJW liquid in the Herbs Of Gold brand. My only experience of changing brands is the time I tried changing to GNC standardised capsules- and it didn't work to well. I felt nervous and more anxious on them, though admittedly I was a bit apprehensive about changing brands...so maybe certain brands just work for some but not others?

I am surprised to hear that Perika did not work for you. Usually I get nothing but Praise from people who try it. Please note that 900mg may not always be enough for some people. For example, I have been taking it close to two years now and have found that I need to take 600mg at breakfast, 600mg at lunch, and 600mg at dinner. The bottle says to take 300mg at each meal, but it was not enough for me. I have read that up to 3600 mg per day is still safe. So dont give up on Perika. Remember that it is standardized and that is very important. Also, there can be some batches that are not quite as strong as others.

Hello. This is my first posting here. I have used 2 brands of SJW. The first was GNC Standardized and the second is Perika from Nature's Way. Both were good but I had different reactions to each. GNC kind of made me mellow and took away the anxiety. Perika tended to give me more of an "uptake" feeling and I felt more motivated to get things done on Perika. I have stuck with Perika for a while. Once in a while I do notice that I get a bit down, but I think that Perika is pretty consistent in it's potency and overall would recommend it to anyone suffering from moderate to slight depression.

It took me seven weeks to experience the benefits of Perika. Give it a chance. I've been on it for more than a year with excellent results.

OK, answer me this...if Perika (or any other drug) is working so well for your depression, why are you still lurking around these boards if you feel so great? If I was back to "Normal" I wouldn't even want to be on these boards, I would be enjoying life again.

That's like saying, after you get laid on Friday night, why bother calling your partner on Saturday? I mean, gosh, you already got what you want.

I hope you feel better soon.

Perika worked well for me these past 2 years. I come to this site to give advice to others. I do not come here because it is not working.
