"NOW brand working..." , Thu 21 Oct 17:03

Hello people -

recently started taking NOW standardized SJW after a short break from the wort, and I am very impressed with the results.

Am on 1,200mg instead of 900mg, and have been both sleeping well and feeling less depressed, within a week.

Will keep you posted.

Take care

"NOW" , Fri 22 Oct 07:56

Just the week - but I think my system recognizes the wort, even after a break of a month or so.

I do take Kava as well which helps with anxiety.

I have heard of the mood plus - just has lots of supporting vitamins and a few herbs in there as well - can't hurt.

Kava is good for Anxiety?
Reason I ask is I'm on Paxil now but searching a great alternative (natural) for when I decide to wein off..
I have Amoryn here (3 bottles) but not sure if it is so good.Maybe I did not give it the time or was too depressed.

"Kava" , Fri 22 Oct 16:33

Yep - kava is good, but you need the good quality 'raw' stuff - not the pills - they are hopeless!

Look on the web, but ideally I would recommend Kuai kava as it is the most 'mellowing' of all the 'types' of kava (i.e. places where it is grown). You can buy the ground root in big bags - then ideally you want to blend up a tablespoon or so with cold water and lecithin to activate the kava-lactones (active compounds). Yes it's a hassle, but the result is profound relaxation without drowsiness or 'mind-numbing'. I do use this in the day and am still sharp for playing tennis, without any side-effects. It has a subtle but profound effect on anxiety.

Ah, Kava sounds good. Typically they've banned it here (Australia) Apparently the reason is in higher doses over a long term it can cause liver damage. Even if this is true (I've read informed opinions arguing against this) doesn't it sound a bit like the effects of another well known substance which is abused more than Kava is ever going to be....! :(

"kava NOT TOXIC" , Mon 8 Nov 05:13

Hello -

yes, this is the FDA reacting to a couple of incidents awhile back where people died of liver failure. The reason behind this was due to a company/ies using the stems of the kava in addition to the root - very toxic, in their extracts.

If you get good quality whole root, you know it's just the root. And this part is NOT toxic. Sure, if you drink a huge amount daily, your skin goes yellow, but this is resolved by stopping consumption for awhile.

Do a search on traditional native consumption of kava - it's safe IMO.

Yes, it's a shame they've banned it - as usual - it works (the good stuff), and something that works that well shouldn't be allowed (ha ha), obviously, as people might prefer it over other medicines.
