Topic Title: Please tell me your experience with Perika

I just took my first 300 mg. pill today. I have no energy and I was hoping to get a boost from Perika. Instead, like so many other things, it put me to sleep. Is this something that will probably pass? Did any of you have this effect from Perika initially and then later get energy and motivation from it once your body adjusted to it? I'm so disappointed. I hope this will pass.

I tried Perika for 2 months and felt jagged on it, although it did lift my mood. But it wasn't consistent and I just didn't like the tense feeling. I also have bipolar disorder and the last thing I need is something activating and destabilizing. I've had alot of success with HBO Protocols brand and so have a few of my friends also taking it. It uses a research grade extract in a slightly higher potency than other brands. I found it to be calming but not dopey. It's also quite cheap. You can get it at the website www.hbostore.com . You just have to slog through the ads and other stuff they sell.

Hi there krooney. I took Perika for over 2 months to treat mild depression and obsessive, negative thinking with chronic anxiety. If you do a search, you can find my post about that experience. In a nutshell though, Perika made me tired the first few days but once that went away, it did not help my mood and I suspect it actually made me more obsessive and tense. But someone on this board recently said that Perika is an "activating" brand of SJW and therefore may not be the best choice for anxiety. I switched to 5-HTP and so far, so good, but I'm not sure if it's because of the 5-HTP or just because I stopped the SJW, so I'm taking a break for a while to see what happens. Good luck to you--Perika has a lot of success stories, and if it's true that it's activating, it might be a great choice for you. Many people report that the tiredness goes away, but some people who continue to have the side effect have stated that they take all or most of the dose before bed to deal with it.

Hi. I have taken Perika since Memorial Day 2003 and overall it has been very good. I currently take the recommended dosage, but sometimes take one extra pill. I feel much more level headed on Perika, with less anxiety. I no longer have the need to take naps, which I always had to do to get back any energy. Testimonials show Perika to be highly successful, however there are some who it does not work best on, especially those that are severely depressed or suffer from severe anxiety.
