Topic Title: Kira in Vancouver?
| | "Kira in Vancouver?" , Wed 28 Jul 19:52
I'm in Vancouver, and I had bought a two months supply of Kira SJW from Shoppers Drugmart. But they no longer carry Kira. Does anyone who lives in the area know of any stores that do? Thanks!

Hi here is the internet address for kira its www.lichtwer.co.uk , if you contact them they will most probably be able to help you, after all I order mine from them as it is uk . I know you are in canada so you will have to find out. I order the packs of 50 and its 3 for the price of 2 all the time, so I never buy them in the shop as always dearer. I pay £19.95 for 3 packs. They are helpfull and a lady from the berlin office forwarded my e mail to somebody in the uk.( Dont ask how on earth I got through to the berlin office, I dont know!!as a fairy I am always doing daft things!!I am sure they will be able to help

Hi its me again I just went and looked and I just clicked on some sjw to see and put it in my basket and it went in and then a scroll down list of where you live comes down and canada was on their!!. So know you dont have to search any longer and hopefully you will make a saving of 3 for the price of 2 as well
Hopefully you have a debit card as that will make it easier when you order them, you can request fact sheets from them which are good too. They seem to permanently do 3 for 2

The only major chain in Canada that I know carries Kira is Safeway. But it's quite expensive ($20 for just 50 tablets).

Thanks, fairy, Kelly. I did find some at Safeway... even though it looks like they won't be restocking on them. It's so ironic, even really specialized health stores don't carry Kira and have not even heard of it, even though apparently it's one of the best brands. In fact they don't even carry Perika!
I'm actually thinking of switching to Amoryn, since I've been 8 weeks on Kira. Although it has done wonders for my emotional anxiety, it hasn't helped me at all with my fatigue and lack of motivation / concentration.
I also think it would be nice when this hyperforin/hypericin question is finally cleared up.

I don't think Amoryn would be a good choice for you if you're looking for energy and motivation. For that, you have to get Perika. Can you order things from the U.S if you can't get them in a store in Canada? Would you be able to order Perika from iHerb.com that is located in the U.S.? They're great to deal with and their prices are good as well. I just ordered Perika from them and will start on it shortly. (I also need the energy and motivation.)

Hi k8samms,
very interesting reply! If you're right, then I'd HAVE to get Perika. But how is it different than Kira, which I already took for 8 weeks. And is Amoryn not a good choice?

I've done a lot of research on this topic. There are literally over one hundred different chemicals in SJW and different products have different combinations or percentages of the various constituents in them. Perika has the chemical composition that is the most dopaminergic. Therefore, it is the most energizing and motivating. The other brands of SJW are more serotonergic which is more calming and emotionally blunting. They are great for people with a lot of anxiety along with their depression. They are not good for those who need energy and stimulation. Amoryn contains 5-htp which is also very serotonergic - this would give you the opposite effect than what you are looking for. I haven't tried Perika yet myself but others with anergic (low energy and motivation) depression swear by it.

Hi Kara -- thanks so much for the excellent reply. I'll probably order Perika then.

Alex,
A couple of other things I wanted to mention:
I've heard a complaint or two about the pills being large and round and therefore hard to swallow. You can always grease them with butter or something like that or chop the pills in half with a pill cutter if that's a problem for you.
Also, if you find that it's too stimulating for you, you can mix and match with another SJW brand. (Most brands you take 3 times a day. If you wanted, you could take a more sedating SJW capsule for your last one of the day. In other words, you can experiment, if you need to, until you get the balance of sedation vs. stimulation that's best for you.)
If you do try it, let me know how it goes. I'm probably going to start it within the next few days myself.
Good luck!
Kara

Good idea about mixing with another more sedative brand (for the evening). Thanks again! I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi. If you are concerned about the size of the SJW pill, use Perika. The pills are the same size as an Advil and they are coated so they go down easy. Also, I agree that Perika is good for those with low motivation and energy, that was me before Perika. I now have energy and motivation to get things done instead of taking naps and withdrawing.
