Effexor is an antidepressant with mostly serotonin reuptake activity. SJW is also mostly serotonergic. They tell you not to take them together because of too much serotonin (serontonin syndrome it's called - nausea and flu-like symptoms result). I have taken a small amount of each at the same time without a problem but you definitely can't take a lot of both together. It would be like taking a double dose of Effexor.
