| | "Amoryn for more than MILD depression?" , Mon 8 Dec 10:23
I dont know if I have mild or severe depression. My therapist thinks I have GAD too. he is just an intern at my college though cause its free counseling here on campus that i use. I want to go from Lexapro to Amoryn. see my other post about going from an SSRI to Amoryn. I need advice on that too. has anyone had Amoryn work for GAD or anything more than just "mild" depression? is it really really effective? what do i do???

Amoryn worked very well for my depression. I wouldn't call it severe, but it definitely wasn't mild either. I recommended it to a friend, who had chronic, severe depression. She has been on and off meds for quite some time. Anyway, Amoryn did the trick. "I feel like myself again" is how she put it.

thanks for replying. about how long does it take to be effective? i need to stop my lexapro in order to be on it. do you think i can taper off Lexapro and then gradually increase amoryn at the same time?

In response to your first question, it wasn't an immediate effect. I'd say it took about three weeks to really kick in fully. Definitely not a placebo effect though. The change wasn't immediate, but it was dramatic.
I'm not sure how you should manage switching from Lexapro to Amoryn. You should contact the amoryn.com customer support.

Yes; There are alot of warnings out there that SJW can cause the birth control pill to be less effective..it has been advised on many websites that i have seen that you should use other methods of birthcontrol as well when on SJW. I am not sure young women are very informed of this potential side effect. I have done alot of research, and this potential effect is well documented.

what have you found to work during your research? the amoryn customer help people told me that the patch or injection goes around that problem because it is not ingested through the stomach and going into the liver. or else i can increase the strength of the pill. my doc told me that i would prbably gain more weight and have more side effects from increasing the strength. as of the moment i have not made a decision. thanks for the reply. do you know much about the patch or injection?
