"SSRI to Amoryn" , Mon 8 Dec 10:15

Hey, Im on Lexapro now for about 3 weeks. I am trying to look down the road to when I get married next summer. I wont have insurance under my parents anymore then. So I dont know why im on lexapro cause i wont be able to continue it later. I was wondering if I should just give Amoryn a try. Ive seen the site and I know it works for some people. It has a combo of SJW and 5-HTP so is that more effective? Can I taper off Lexapro and start that? or get completely off? i need some advice.

i was on an SSRI for 3 yrs and slowly weened myself off the poison. i was convinced it caused more harm than good in the long run. everything i have read online about alternative/natural treatments to anxienty/depression makes a lot of sense. i just purchased a 3 month supply of amoryn after reading a lot about it. i will let you know how it works. in regards to stoping LEX, do it slowly or severe vertigo/dis-orientation is sure to follow and will also last a long time.

Congratulations on your wedding!

My husband successfully moved from Celexa to Amoryn. I mention this because Celexa is the exact same drug as Lexapro, just in a slightly different form. He actually likes the Amoryn a little better. It seems to offer the same level of relief, but feels milder (plus the sexual side effects are gone, which I won't complain about!).

According to the people at Amoryn, you shouldn't combine Amoryn with Celexa/Lexapro. They said you should stop using the Celexa/Lexapro for at least a week before taking the Amoryn.

I don't know anyone else who has tried Amoryn, but we decided to give it a shot, and four months later we're very pleased.

Hope that helps,
Sara

i was on a small dosage of celexa for 3 yrs. (20 mgs) i've been off of that garbage for about 2 yrs now...i was feeling the "zaps"...the head catching up to the rest of my body for months and months after. i just bought a few bottles of amoryn and i hope to have some relief. my anxiety/depression levels have been very high lately and i do not want to go back to prescription drugs. i actually have a full bottle of kolonozep in my medicine cabinet and want nothing to do with it. i think all the prescription SSRI's cause more harm than good in the long run and just mask the cause of the real problems. they all should be banned.

you have no idea how wonderful you post is. I have been searching for answers, praying, and needing an answer to ...well it seems almost everything. thank you so much!!! Did it really take 4 months to work? or about how long does it take? did your husband taper off of celexa and stay off totally before starting amoryn? or did he taper celexa while gradually adding amoryn?

No, it didn't take four months to work, it took a week or two. I just say four months because my husband has been taking it for four months. He's much happier, and as a result I'm much happier, so I don't think he'll stop anytime soon. It's definitely worth the $20 per month (costs $30 for one bottle, but we just bought 6 for $100). He tapered off Celexa and then stopped completely for a week, then he started to take Amoryn. I'm not sure why, but the help people I contacted through Amoryn's web address said that he shouldn't take them together.

Best wishes,
Sara

Yeah i contacted them and left a message. hopefully ill hear back. I was just wondering how long the tapering process took for your husband? I am a college student and Im starting christmas break next week and have 3 weeks off so I was hoping to take care of this transition during that time. I had severe withdrawals when I went off of Effexor and it took a month to get off. I hope that Lexapro doesnt do that either. i was also wondering what does you husband have? was he ever diagnosed with anything? like anxiety or depression? I have both of those.

He was diagnosed with depression by a psychiatrist. He also had some anxiety, although he was never officially diagnosed. Amoryn seemed to work for both aspects. He is now more confident and generally happier.

Good luck!
