I read that recent studies show that hyperforin in stead of hypericin is the most active part of St. John's Wort.
I would ask people who have experiences with Perika from Nature's Way (or another brand with hyperforin) to reply to this message with their experiences. Can you also mention if you tried other brands (without hyperforin) before and whether you notice any difference or not. Thanks in advance!

I've taken Wal-Mart's Spring Valley, Perika, and am currently taking HBC Protocols. Spring Valley is standardized to hypercin only, helped initiallially but quit working after a very short time. Perika, standardized to 3% hyperforin and .3% hypercin, worked inconsistently for me. I had very good days/hours mixed with some pretty bad times. I felt somewhat erratic on it as though I'd had too many cups of coffee, at other times overly fatigued. I've been taking HBC Protocols, standardized to 4% hyperforin and .3% hypercin, for a very short time, but so far this has been the best by far for me. It's lifted my mood, been energizing without a "wired" sensation, and with the exception of one day following some high stress, has been consistent.

Dear JohnV,

I started taking Perika after recommendations on this site.

Before that I took Kira (for about 2 months) and Blackmores (for about 4 months).

In my experience Perika is the best brand by some distance. Blackmores was good, but I still had 2 or 3 'down' mornings in 10. Perika to me just seems a stronger, more potent and effective brand altogether.

It is also reasonably inexpensive. Shop around on the internet and you should be able to get a pack of 60 (20 day's supply) for around US$7.00.

Good luck,

Sheephead.
