Hi, I,ve been taking HealthAid St Johns,s Wort for about 3 weeks now, I can,t say I,ve noticed any change yet. I,m a bit confused about the dosage I,ve been taking 3 tabs a day, each tablet contains St Johns Wort Powder 315mg and Standardised St Johns Wort Extract 185mg(0.3% Hypericin) is this right because I thought the correct dose was 300mg (0.3% hypericin). I,m not quite sure if I,m taking enough. Cheers for any replies.

It can take a long time for SJW to start working - sometimes longer than three weeks. Having said that, you may not be taking enough of it. The important part of these tablets is the standardised extract, and you're only getting 185 mg of this per tablet, rather than the standard 300 mg. The SJW powder can't be relied upon because it hasn't been standardised and there's no guarantee that it contains any of the active ingredients. I tried one of these powder/extract mixtures a while back and I don't think it was as effective as my usual standardised extract (Kira - excellent brand but very expensive in the UK).
To get the standard dose of 900 mg, you would have to take five a day. Some people find they need less than 900 mg, but if you still aren't noticing any effects in the next week I'd recommend you increase your dose or change brands.
Hope this helps, Dan
