Topic Title: Pharmamex

I have been using a brand called Pharmanex, which I purchased through my Dr. They have discontinued the product. It worked beautifully. Does anyone know if it is a LI160 or WS5572? I need to replace it with something.

Hard to say. Their website doesn't give any details about the extract, rather it raves on about a Chinese mushroom.
Pharmanex is an MLM product, so I think your doctor has just dropped out of the scheme. You shouldn't have any trouble finding another dealer.
Re LI-160 vs WS-5772: without getting technical, this distinction sort of comes down to whether the extract is standardised to hypericin or hyperforin. Pharmanex will almost certainly be the former.

The product with the mushroom is the new replacement product to the one that I was taking. I'm not interested in taking the new product. My son has OCD and was doing very well on the old Pharmanex product. He was taking 2 capsules with 300mgs per capsule. I need to find something similar to what he was taking.
Two products were recommened by at a health food store. One is a product from the Eklectic Institute. It says it is 300mg per capsule and then states .2-.4% hypericins and 2-4% hyperforins. it says to take 1-3 capsules daily. The other product is from New Chapter and says it is St. John's sc27 a supercritical extract 270 mg, 10% hyperforin-27mg. It says to take one capsule daily. How do I know what I am getting?
Thank you for explaining the difference between the LI and WS products.

I'd probably lean towards the Eklectic in that case. Hyperforin's half-life is about 9 hours in the human body, so a 1-a-day product is already at a disadvantage.
