GNC sells so many types of SJW that I think you need to be specific. My regular militant consumer advice is not to shop at a supplier/manufacturer that insists on selling worthless SJW formulations.
I am not familiar with Nature's Resource, but in the interests of keeping things simple, the gold standard in SJW is currently Perika by Nature's Way:

Thanks for the info. Sorry I wasn't that specific, I don't know much about SJW, and was unaware that GNC had so many different types. I suffer from mild to moderate depression and am seeking therapy for it but am looking for an alternative to going on anti-depressant medications like prozac. I talked to my doctor about giving SJW a try and she says it couldn't hurt and agrees that it does seem to work for some people. I started a few days ago so we will see how it goes. This website and messageboard are very helpful. Thanks for your response.

Please don't apologise, the market for SJW products is very confusing indeed and GNC does nothing to help that.
I hope you have success with SJW! You'll find a lot of very useful info here that will increase your chances of success.

I'm interested in your observation that Nature's Way Perika is the current benchmark in SJW.
Is this assertion based on any particular trial or survey?

It's based on extract methodology and confirmed in lab studies. Perika uses WS-5572 extract, which improves on the old LI-160 extraction process primarily by incorporating a hyperforin stabiliser. Perika is the equivalent of the German prescription SJW product Neuroplant. The success of this process in preserving hyperforin levels during shelf life is borne out by various lab assays (e.g. the Wurglics research paper I have quoted from in the past). In fact, when a recent large-scale French study re-designed the flawed US NIMH trials, they used a WS-5572 product instead of LI-160.
I hate to be brand-specific, but since Movana disappeared from the marketplace, Perika is the only WS-5572 readily available to most of us here.
This is not to say that LI-160 is rubbish, or that Perika is the only good product out there. One could only say that it is the best product in terms of measured hyperforin levels, and there is now very strong support for hyperforin being the primary mood elevator in SJW.
