Could someone please help!! I recently started taking SJW. Superdrug had the Kira on offer so I bought a couple of packs to start with. But on this site I have read that to get the recommended dose one has to take 3 of the "one-a-day" tablets per day, which is what I bought. Is that right??? Also, has anyone out there tried the Holland and Barratt or Healthspan brands. How many of them should of them should I take a day? Basically what is the safe daily resommended dosage for optimum effect? Lastly, are all these brands the same or have some people out there found any one better than another? Please do reply. This is my last resort before antidepressants!

I use holland&barret I take 3 a day it works fine, it really takes the edge off and lifts you. I stopped taking it for a couple of days a little while back and found i became very low and had to take it again, so it must be working:)

I'm not sure about the strength of the Superdrug SJW, but in regards to the other brands:
H+B = the right strength. i haven't tried it but some people says it works fine. 3 a day.
Healthspan = the brand i use = cheap and works well. Take 3 a day.
Kira = most people say this is the best quality, but you need to take 3 of the 'one a day' kira tablets to get the right effect - but this can work out very expensive.

hi seZ, and thanks for the reply. Yeah, I've read alot about healthspan on this site. It almost seems to good to be true pricewise. But the 3 which have been recommended most higly on this site seem to be healthspan, h&b, and Quest. Have you or anybody else tried Quest or know about the quality. Also, if you don't mind my asking did you suffer from a mild or moderate depression. Mine is moderate, teatering towards serious. I just really want to be sure I'm using the best product (although can't afford to keep using Kira) since this is my last resort before antidepressents. Although after reading some of the postings on this site, i'm not sure they work so great either and seem to have alot of side effects. Take care.

I've not tried Quest as (if im correct) its a US site, which i can't order from.
Mine's fairly mild but i really can feel the difference using the healthspan SJW - it levels my moods out and i don't get effected by things i would have before. I've been on and off SJW for about the past 9 months, and whenever i come 'off' it i really feel the difference. Plus, I've had 2 or 3 close friends and family on antidepressants such as prozac, so i know all about the nasty side effects and wouldn't take them, personally.
I agree you shouldnt be put off by the low price @ healthspan - theyre good quality. Just think, its the normal cheaper interenet prices (due to less costs for shopfronts etc), plus no tax .. hence its so low. I really would recommend them.

Quest is a UK brand operating out of Birmingham:

This is their SJW product:

Healthspan seems to be a similar product so people should be able to pick and choose amongst them. My only advice is to ignore Healthspan's dosage instructions and consider taking 3 per day, in line with the clinical studies.
Price is a very poor indicator of quality with SJW. The raw extract is quite cheap. In fact, many of the best SJW products can be purchased at the bottom end.

I have used Quest - it worked fine, but I used mostly Healthspan for two and a half years with good results - don't be put off by the low price. The usual disclaimer applies - different brands affect different people differently, so if it don't work for you, change brands.
I was diagnosed as having moderate depression.
