one other thing....I read somewhere about a 5-HTP product that has been chemically altered so as not to upset the gut, like vit C can be found as ester-C. anyone know about this?

I haven't heard about that, but I recommend Nature's Way brand of 5htp with c and b6, it is also enteric coated.
