Hi all
My partner has been suffering from anxiety problems for the past 2 years. She has tried ssri's but is not happy about taking this form of medication. She has had some councilling which did seem to help a little. Yoga and meditation also help, but she is getting really down about the lack of motivation and the fact that if she "over does it" it affects her for days afterwards. She is 45 and thought that it might be the start onthe menopause.
After reading posts on this site she has started taking SJW 2 a day 1 in morning and 1 before going to bed.
Do people have any suggestions regarding brands in UK. "Quest" seems a good deal.
Also is there anyone in the surrey area of UK who could give support, as the NHS seem hopeless.

Hi Andy
Which brand is she taking? The reason I ask is that some brands in the UK (notably Kira) only recommend 300mg a day, which is a third of what most people take. This is due to legislation here and does not seem to apply elsewhere. For example, Kira's 'one a day' tablets are actually only 300mg, and most people take 3 x 300mg a day. Unfortunately this can work out very expensive, but the Quest is a good deal and does state on the bottle that you can take 1 to 3 a day.
Vitamin B complex is also highly recommended for anxiety, and Omega three oils can help with depression. I also take 5htp for depression but I'm not sure whether that is recommended for just anxiety.
I know what you mean about the NHS - it's the same wherever you are in the UK I think. She sounds like she's getting some wonderful support from you though :0)

At the moment she is taking 2 X 300mg Herb Tech SJW, still no help after 7 days, but this might still be too soon to see any effect.

Hi Andy,
You're right that 7 days is a bit early to see any effect, however I would definitely think about increasing the dose to three times a day - that's what most people on this forum are taking. Give it a few weeks, and if there's no improvemnt you should change brands. Kira is the best brand sold in the UK, but unfortunately the most expensive, but it's worth a try.

Does anyone know where i can get hold of brands other than Kira here? All i can find is Kira and Boots (which i think is the same concentration). I'm a student and can't afford to take 3 of the 'one a day' kira tablets each day, so i take less than i really need.
