Topic Title: GNC Herbal Plus Standardized - Excellent
| | "GNC Herbal Plus Standardized - Excellent" , Fri 27 Sep 06:41
Hello Everyone: I highly recommend GNC's brand of St. John's Wort, but get STANDARDIZED, not "Fingerprinted"... Three pills a day kicked in for me on Day 7, to my amazement and delight...It's unmistakeable. I enthusiastically, immediately posted a letter to everyone, but haven't heard from anyone yet. I'm a member of HIP and, when I asked her about it, their psychiatrist herself said "YES, it does work for many people and without side effects"...But then, we know that, don't we? Jeanette

Hi Jeanette,
I'm glad to hear it's working for you! Are you taking it for depression or anxiety? And, are you taking anything else with it? SJW is working quite nicely for my too and I'm just finishing week 4!
I'm really happy for you!!! Catz

Hi Catz: I started taking SJW for dysthenmia, which is a moderate but chronic kind of depression, with lethargy, anxiety and (in my case) terrible insommnia too. It seems that feelings of anxiety and insomnia are liked with depression, or so I've read (I read a lot). Anyway, today is my 9th day on SJW and I feel a LOT better and am actually sleeping well too! I also take 3 Gingko Biloba Plus (with Ginseng & Gotu Kola), Vitamin E, B-complex and Flax Seed Oil. I tried 5-HTP..took 2 50 mg. capsules for two days, but didn't like the affect, so now that SJW is working so well, I'm not going to take it. Thanks so much for writing to me. I'm probably old enough to be your mom, but what the hell, depression hits people of all ages. We're very lucky not to be taking Prozac, Paxil, etc. as that stuff is known to have some VERY nasty side effects. Jeanette

Hi, I haven't tried the GNC brand yet. Maybe I'll try it in the future. What is fingerprinted? How is it different from standardized? I too take standardized.

Hello Karla:
From what I learned on this website, the GNC "fingerprinted" products are only half as strong as the Standardized ones. Whether you buy GNC or another grand, always get Standardized. Be sure that on the bottle it reads "Minimum 0.3% Hypericin (0.9 mg.)I find that SJW produces vivid dreaming, which I find enjoyable, especially after having insomnia for many months and , before SJW, needing to take half a Xanax in order to sleep. I no longer need to take it, which proves to me that this stuff REALLY WORKS!! I'm still amazed that it kicked in so quickly for me. Good luck to you, Karla.

I so gotta agree with the sleep/dreaming part. I haven't been able to get a decent night sleep in years. After taking SJW (NutriZac) for the second day, I was sleeping through the night and am much more rested. I hope this continues. So the fact I'm sleeping better is an indication that NutriZac is working? I hope anyway.
As for mood, I've noticed some mild improvements. But I've only been taking two tablets a day. And I've only been taking NutriZac for about a week. Today, I think I'll switch to the full dose b/c I've had very little or no side-effects...

Hi Emerald,
Good idea, taking 3 a day is going to be much better for you. Some people say that SJW is not good for insomnia and complain saying that when they take SJW too late at night they have a hard time going to sleep. I take my last SJW at 5 pm everyday and I have to say that ever since the beginning of my second week my insomnia problems are gone. So I agree with you too :)
