Topic Title: GNC Fingerprinted??
| | "GNC Full Spectrum SJW??" , Mon 25 Feb 17:14:
Anyone have experience with GNC Full Spectrum SJW? I bought some GNC Full Spectrum - I usually use the standardized. Since the fingerprinted is only 150 mg. per capsule, would I need to double the dose so I take 300 mg. at a time? Or does the ostensible better quality make it so I only need to take 1 capsule at a time?

Needs more info. What % of hypericins have they listed on each label? If they are both the same, you'd need to double the dose.
(When you said "fingerprinted", did you mean "Full Spectrum"?)
I wouldn't read too much into this "ostensibly better quality" story. As we say in these parts, "same sh*t, different bucket" :) The concentration x dose is all that counts.

Thanks Epyx -
Yes, I meant Full Spectrum. The hypericin percentage is the same, with half the mg. per tab - makes sense that I would have to double the dosage. I'm going to start the box in about a month. It may actually be better, since hyperforin may be important too, and this would seem to have more than the GNC standardized. The GNC standardized seems to be working great, though - I tried Nature's Way, and it wasn't as good.
Have you used GNC Full Spectrum? What do you think? Any other brand recommendations? Thanks!

Out of interest, do both products list hyperforin content separately? We have two products here in my country which are identical in composition, yet the more expensive one doesn't list hyperforin content!
We've only just acquired GNC here, but I'm weaning myself off SJW so I won't be trying any more brands. Regarding other brands, I was always interested to try Movana since the hyperforin was supposedly "stabilised" in it. Kira is still the benchmark product since it was used in most research trials. Apart from those two, I probably would feel most comfortable using any extract-based product which disclosed 3% or higher hyperforin. That tends to indicate that it is based on one of the newer extraction processes.

P.S. I've got to be honest ... I really wonder how any of us determine whether one brand is better or not. Not only is it totally subjective, it also depends on so many other variables that change from day to day and week to week. Perhaps all we can hope for is to notice a positive change in ourselves with one brand and stick with it?

Hi Epyx,
Why ru weaning yourself off SJW? Is it cos of side-effects??
Just curious, cos I would like to try it, but it caused stomach upset for me.
Cheers

I'm weaning myself of SJW because it looks like I've managed to beat my depression :) I wrote up my story in the Experiences forum a couple of weeks ago.
I'm not having side-effects, esp. since I take them just after meals. Did you try that?
