I am going to start taking SJW tonight and I was wondering if anybodr knew the difference between the 4 types that GNC makes.

Concentrated 1000mg
Fingerprinted 500mg
Standardized 300mg
Full Spectrum 150mg

Does anybody know the differnece? Would you reccommend a certain type if you have used it? I got the standardized tablets and I hope they do me some good. Thanks

In a nutshell, these names translate as follows:

Fingerprinted -- chopped raw herb
Concentrated -- as above, with pulp/fibre removed
Standardized -- standardised SJW extract
Full Spectrum -- as above, but tested for more bio-markers (may or may not be a different extract)

"Standardized" is probably the first choice here. "Full Spectrum" is a confusing option because while it claims to verify the presence of other active principles in their SJW extract, it makes no attempt to quantify them to the consumer e.g. hyperforin level is not standardised. This is not necessarily bad, but to my way of thinking it doesn't sound like it offers any additional benefits over "Standardized". Actually, it just sounds like BS to me ... there's no doubt in my mind that GNC doesn't actually manufacture these extracts in the first place. Therefore, the botanical extractor should have already performed all these tests already for any extract they supply.

I use the standardized 3x per day, with 5-HTP - it's great. I tried another brand (Nature's Way?) and it wasn't as good. I did buy the fingerprinted and will try it, although I would think I'd need to take double the dosage because it's only 150 mg.
