hi, i'm taking celexa now and i haven't seen any results in a month and a half. i have taken a couple other antidepressants and they just don't seem to work. i suffer from depression, anxiety, i have kind of a social phobia where i don't want to leave the house. a friend who had similar problems has started taking 5htp. she swears by it and has encouraged me to try it. does anyone have a similar story and any advice? i don't know if i should just stop the celexa and start the 5htp. i am hesitant to talk to my doctor about this becuase she is not very supportive to begin with. any input would be welcome. thanks

Check out the 5htp section of this forum. I'm not sure about celexa, but when coming off any of the other prescription anti depressants it is recommended that you wean yourself off VERY slowly. It may take a few weeks depending on the dose you are taking. Most people suggest weaning yourself totally off before starting the 5htp.
