Topic Title: post your favorite brand!

after searching through this brand forum..it all seems pretty sporadic, and i am still at a loss as to what people have settled on as their favorite brand..maybe if we all posted the brand we prefer here, including what we do and don't like about it, it would make it easier for casual surfers (like me) to decide..and maybe even which brands to avoid..ready..set..go!

For those of you near a "Sams Club" in the US, consider their "Members Mark" brand. Only approximately $7.00 per 200 caplets, with the classic 300, .3% formula. I've been using it for about a year now, and I have seen no difference from much more expensive brands.

In Australia here, using a popular supermarket brand called Herron. For reasons I explained in another thread, I know that this brand (along with Blackmores) is essentially the same research-grade preparation used in many clinical trials.
For the record though, I've never taken a SJW tab or cap and felt a rapid change in mood or physiology. All I can say is that I feel 1000% better as a result of a broad program of change in my life, and SJW was part of that program.

for sjw i suggest newchapter st. john's sc27 (10% hyperforins! it's awesome!). i take nature's way 5-htp. currently i am taking 270 mg sjw 3X a day and 50 mg. 5-htp at dinner then 100 mg. right before bed and my mood is better than it has been in years. maybe ever! and that's significant since i have been dealing with a bio-chemical sort of depression on & off for about 28 yrs.

"10% hyperforins" sounds very impressive until you realise that the capsule dosage is 270mg ... this means you are getting 27mg of hyperforins per cap. Normal 300mg tabs should be 3%+ hyperforin, so the standard daily dosage of hyperforin in 3 tabs is 300x3%x3 = 27mg. In other words, it's equivalent to normal tabs.
BTW, I notice you are taking 3x the recommended dose. Were you aware of that? Hope this doesn't sound like criticism ... I'm actually very happy you are getting such good results overall after battling with depression for so long!

SJW works like the antidepressants known as SSRIs, by increasing the availability of serotonin in brain synapses by blocking the reuptake mechanism--where the serotonin is removed from the synapse, thereby leaving more serotonin available to the brain.
5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan) is the precursor to serotonin, and it works by increasing the serotonin available to your brain.
So 5-HTP provides the raw materials for the body to make new serotonin, and SJW prevents serotonin from being naturally deactivated by blocking the reuptake mechanism.
Here is a great website for more info on 5htp http://www.smart-publications.com/books/5htp/toc.html
