I'm from Australia and taking Blackmores 1.8g/tab standardised to contain hypericin deriv. 990mcg/tab. The bottle states take one tab 3times a day but isn't this too much, shouldn't just 1 tab/once a day be enough.

Hi Suzie,
How are you going with the Blackmore's brand of SJW? I have just started so am unsure how I will go. No other AD has ever worked for me so I'm trying to keep optimistic about this one! Any good news would be music to my ears

That had me confused at first too! Most "clinical dose" tablets are described as "1800mg", which actually refers to the dried herb equivalent. Standardised ethanolic extracts are 6:1, so this equates to 300mg of extract. The extracts are standardised to contain 0.3% hypericin, so 0.3% of 300mg is 0.9mg, which is 900mcg.
These are all the standard values for therapeutic dosage. Typically you take 3 of these doses daily, which gives you 900mg of extract and 2.7mg of hypericin respectively.
