"SJW brands/which brands are highest quality?" , Fri 2 Nov 13:21

I am about to start using SJW after a disappointing trial on Celexa (SSRI). Celexa made me feel great BUT it kept me awake at night; as a result of lack of sleep, I became VERY tired and increasingly frustrated each day! Anyway, I am looking for advice. Which SJW brand is best to start with? I have looked through the postings on this site but there seems to be no concensus on positive results with any specific brands. I realize that different brands work well on different people but certainly there must be a few larger herb companies with long histories of consistency and high quality products that are generally smart choices to start with? I live in the USA and there are tons of options for brand names of SJW to choose from. The brands can be very confusing to say the least.
TwinLabs? Nature's Way? GNC?
HELP!!
Thanks!

We had switched our clients to the USA made USANA brand of St Johns Wort (I understand that it may be taken off the market soon in USA but we can still get it in NZ) We found it cheaper than another brand we were getting. The fact that all USANA products are laboratory tested gives us faith in the products consistency.

We have been finding it a good alternative for some of our clients who have Alzheimers Disease with a depressive or anxiety overlay. This group can't fake how they feel or their response. They are also unable to report sideeffects to prescribed medications. Hence SJW is a safer option.

In NZ prescribed drugs are generally government subsidised and SJW is not. Hence our clients family are not going to pay for the product unless they can see real benefits

Cheers

Hi,

I started using the Sundown brand of St. John's Wort "XTRA", about 6 months ago and have had wonderful results. My concentration at work has increased and my agitation has decreased. About a year ago, I was depressed and distracted. I saw a psychiatrist and got put on Prozac right away. That was a good treatment at the time because it pulled me up from a potential abyss. However, 1)I had lower sex drive and 2)It is cumbersome to have to schedule a visit every month to get the next month's Rx. One day, I noticed at the end of the shopping aisle in a drug store a SJW display, and figured I have nothing to loose (a slight risk, but I'm generally healthy anyway), so I tried it and IT WORKS FOR ME!!! P.S. The "XTRA" refers to the fact that Sundown Herbals brand contains Ginkgo Biloba, Siberian Ginseng, and Ginger. This may also contribute to my increased concentration at work. I wish you the best of luck in finding the right brand for you.
